All This Time
A Weather Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've been searching for something
It's so hard to find
I think it's somewhere in the back of my mind
And I'm afraid to see
Yes, I'm afraid to see
The way you look at me

I've been holding you in
You've been pushing me out
Sometimes I wonder what this is all about
And I'm afraid to see, yes I'm afraid to see
I'm afriad to
The way you look at me

Chorus:
All this time
All these words
All this pain turns into hurt
I know it's time for you to go

I've been sleeping on the couch
You've been seeing someone else
I found his things on the top shelf
And I'm afraid to hear, I'm afraid to hear
The words you say to me

I've been holding this in
You've been pushing me out
Sometimes I wonder what this is all about
And I'm afraid to hear, I'm afraid to hear
I'm afraid to hear
The words you say to me now

And you wanted to talk to me
You wanted to be set free
But I'm afraid to hear

Afraid to see
Afraid to even fucking breathe now

Overall Meaning

In A Weather's "All This Time", the singer is grappling with their fear of confronting the truth about a failing relationship. They express their struggle in searching for something that seems just out of reach, something that they feel might be found if they were able to confront their own emotions and the reality of their situation. They are afraid to truly see and hear the ways in which their partner is pulling away and the pain that is causing them.

The lyrics portray a relationship in which the two partners are out of sync with each other, with the singer holding on while their partner is trying to move on with someone else. The lyrics suggest that the singer has been trying to keep their partner close, but that their efforts have mostly been in vain. They worry that confronting their partner about what's happening will only make things worse, but they also know that their relationship cannot continue as it is. In the end, the singer is left feeling stuck, holding their emotions in and afraid to make any move that could lead to more pain.

The song's imagery is powerful, depicting a sense of frustration and anguish that feels relatable to anyone who has ever struggled to confront the truth about a faltering relationship. The repetition of the phrase "I'm afraid to see" and "I'm afraid to hear" underscores the singer's sense of anxiety and apprehension, as they try to find the courage to acknowledge what they already know to be true.

That second tune is my absolute favorite...
But it's deeper than that..
I used to turn on the weather channel in the morning to check the weather before I headed off to work..
And I had a chocolate lab that used to sit by my side in my livingroom in the morning with me as I got ready for work.. that song would come on and she would perk up and look at the TV often wagging her tail, so happy listening to that tune...
So I would hum it all day at work... just couldn't wait to come home to my baby girl..
Then I would come home and softly hum it to her..
She would get so happy...
So I'm all alone now...
But the song and her spirit will always be with me..
I love this song..

Anyone else get mega nostalgic from these tunes? The only time I watch weather is when I’m on vacation so this reminds me of laying in bed after an eventful day up north just watching those tornado shows

I used to live in Michigan as a kid. me and my brother would always wait till the time came around and popped the weather channel on. The music for some reason now makes me melancholic. Really makes me miss those days.

This is the one that I remember. And I shed a tear while listening to it again. I have found another piece of nostalgia, and I couldn't be happier. 😊

Nostalgia for me too

2:10 - 3:12 When you hear that song, you just know something is going down. I remember hearing that track around the time Hurricane Irma made landfall in Florida back in September 2017.

I watched it happen on the weather channel when it went red mode. One of only few times I've seen it go red.

I remember hearing this in 2013
