Aarni's superintelligent lyrics take form in the language believed most suitable for the song's subject: usually in English, Classical Latin or Finnish and occasionally in French, Ancient Egyptian, Hebrew, German, Enochian, Glossolalic, Ouranian-Barbaric et cetera.
Aarni has of course always existed, but the current incarnation's story began in the autumn of 1998 ev, when M.·.M.·. suddenly began solitarily developing his vague musical ideas further. He got telepathetic messages from the unicorn dolphin elder of Sirius B, who begged M.·.M.·. to reawaken the ancient Xothian aural technology tradition called aarni. Soon after choosing to comply with the demands of these psychotic transmissions, Comte de Saint-Germain appeared to him and immediately joined Aarni. When the two gentlemen conducted an unsuccessful necromantic ritual at Moominpappa's cenotaph, a third member's addition to the band took place: Doomintroll. Simultaneously the first letter of Mahatma M's surname semi-accidentally flipped over completing his mutation into Master Warjomaa.
The fourth band member does not really act as a "proper" musician, but seems nonetheless to partake in Aarni's creative processes. For Mistress Palm seems in fact composed entirely of artificial, phlogiston-driven rectoplasm and due to her apparently incorporeal nature can only exist on a computer's hard disk.
Now work nears completion on Aarni's third studio album aka 'Lovecraftian'.
The Weird of Vipunen
Aarni Lyrics

To solve the mysteries of the grave, my heart's violent yearning.
The noisome welkin oozes down raining sour bile
Like a worm-eaten face full moon shines on bright.
Interrment is the end of pain, escape from life's nauseous flame.
Across a field of mouldy grass I ride post and fast On a reindeer mummified with the witch-drum last.
Heading for a citadel built from howling bones,
Filling this heaving night with dark insane moans.
Interrment is the end of pain, escape from life's nauseous flame.
Approaching the castle gate I see its keeper
He is the Blind Ape of Fate, ancestor of the Reaper.
Hailing from a nearby lake, a monstrous fleshy arrow
Aimed at our pallid world to kill us in our barrow.
Internet is the end of pain, escape from life's nameless fane.
The lyrics of Aarni's song "The Weird of Vipunen" describe the journey of the singer through the land of Tuonela, the realm of the dead in Finnish mythology. The singer is on a quest to solve the mysteries of the grave and to find escape from the pains of life. The atmosphere is dark and oppressive, with a "noisome welkin" oozing down sour bile and a worm-eaten face moon shining down. The singer rides through a field of mouldy grass on a reindeer mummified with a witch-drum, heading towards a citadel made of howling bones. As he approaches the castle gate, he sees the Blind Ape of Fate, ancestor of the Reaper, who guards the citadel.
The lyrics suggest that interment, or burial, is seen as an escape from the nauseating flames of life. The dark and eerie mood of the song is accentuated by the use of imagery such as the sour bile and the howling bones of the citadel. The lyrics also reference Finnish mythology, with Tuonela being the underworld ruled by the god of death, and Vipunen being a giant in Finnish mythology who guards the secrets of the universe.
Overall, "The Weird of Vipunen" presents a bleak and unsettling journey through the realm of the dead, with the possibility of escape from the pains of life through interment.
