Lost Highway
Aaron Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
All the souls that I've known
I see flowers everywhere
But it’s only cryings that come up in the air
So many lives around I guess that it was just your time
For every rose, one big stone
One phone call, my world alone
I miss you, sweet mother
Some other grounds
Lost highway way too fast
Headlights burnin' all my laughs
Where was I when you screamed
Where was I when you lost all your dreams
People think,that it’s alright
When your face got so much lights
Did your blue eyes peacefully
Finally dived into the sea
I miss you sweet brother
I'll see you some other time,
Some other grounds
Nothing could tell the power of your smell
How many hands on my head
You took the train with heavy tickets
It’s not your fault
You couldn't make it
I know that the sun shines better
Now that you'll stay by his side
For ever
I miss you sweet sister
I'll see you some other time,
Some other grounds
In the song "Lost Highway" by Aaron, the artist reflects on the pain and sorrow that comes with losing loved ones. The "lost highway" represents the journey of life and how unpredictable it can be. The lyrics "carry on, all the souls that I've known" indicate that the artist has lost multiple people in his life and he is trying to cope with the pain. He sees flowers everywhere, but instead of finding comfort in them, he can only feel the weight of grief and sorrow in the air.
The recurring line "I miss you sweet mother/brother/sister" shows the depth of the artist's pain and the longing he feels for their presence. The lines "where was I when you screamed/where was I when you lost all your dreams" further emphasize the sense of helplessness and regret that comes with losing someone. The artist questions himself and wonders if he could have done more to prevent the loss.
The artist's use of imagery in the lines "for every rose, one big stone" and "headlights burning all my laughs" evoke the idea that the joys in life are often fleeting and overshadowed by the immeasurable weight of loss. Ultimately, the artist finds solace in the belief that his loved ones are at peace and in a better place, and he hopes to see them again "some other time, some other grounds."
