On the first AaRON album, they covered the song Strange Fruit, a song which was made famous by Billie Holiday. The version they perform on the album is drawn largely from Nina Simone's rendition on her 1965 album Pastel Blues.

Aaron Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
That's all the strength I have left
Faith is wearing thin
Let me see your face again
When flames are climbing higher
Jesus, help me remember
You've walked me through the fire
Over ashes & embers
You've carried me this far
I find my strength when you're here
With you what shall I fear
In the fire, I know you'll be near
When flames are climbing higher
Jesus, help me remember
You've walked me through the fire
Over ashes & embers
Smoke begins to rise
And tears are flooding my eyes
But you're here in this flame with me now
You'll walk me through somehow
When flames are climbing higher
Jesus, help me remember
You've walked me through the fire
Over ashes & embers
You'll walk me through this fire
Over ashes & embers
The lyrics to Aaron's song "Embers" depict a struggle with faith and finding strength in the midst of difficult times. The singer is at the end of their rope, with only enough strength to take one more step. They are pleading to see the face of Jesus again because their faith is wearing thin. However, the singer then remembers that Jesus has walked them through the fire before, and they trust that He will do it again. The flames are climbing higher, but the singer finds comfort and strength in Jesus' presence. The smoke and tears are overwhelming, but Jesus is with them, walking them through the fire.
This song speaks to the universal human experience of struggling with faith and finding strength in difficult times. It can be interpreted in both a religious and secular context, as the themes of perseverance and hope are universal. The metaphor of fire is used throughout the song, symbolizing the struggles and challenges of life. The dynamic between weakness and strength is central to the song, as the singer is at their weakest when they cry out for help, yet they find strength in Jesus' presence and in the knowledge that He has carried them this far.
