The First Noel

Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
They looked up and saw a star
And to the earth it gave great light
And so it continued both day and night.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
And by the light of that same star
Three Wise men came from country far
To seek for a King was their intent
And to follow the star wherever it went.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
This star drew nigh to the northwest
O'er Bethlehem it took its rest
And there it did both Pause and stay
Right o'er the place where Jesus lay.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
Then entered in those Wise men three
Full reverently upon their knee
And offered there in His presence
Their gold and myrrh and frankincense.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
Then let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our heavenly Lord
That hath made Heaven and earth of nought
And with his blood mankind has bought.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
The song, The First Noel, is a classic Christmas hymn that tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of the scene in Bethlehem when Jesus was born. The song opens with the singing of the angels who announced the birth of Jesus to a group of shepherds. The shepherds were out in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks, when the angels appeared to them and proclaimed the good news of the birth of the Savior. The angels then sang out the repeated refrain: "Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the King of Israel!"
The second verse of the song talks about a star that appeared in the sky over Bethlehem. The star shone so brightly that it caught the attention of three wise men from faraway lands. The wise men followed the star across deserts and mountains to find the newborn baby Jesus. The third verse mentions that the star led the wise men to Bethlehem, where it stopped right over the place where Jesus was born. The wise men entered the house where Jesus was, and they offered precious gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the holy child.
The final verse of the song is a call to worship Jesus, who is the King of Israel. The lyrics urge listeners to sing praises to God, who created heaven and earth and became flesh in the form of Jesus to redeem mankind. The song ends with the joyful refrain: "Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the King of Israel!" This popular Christmas hymn is a beautiful reminder of the true reason for the season.
