Crying In The Chapel
Aaron Neville Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Tears I shed were tears of joy,
I know the meaning of contentment,
I am happy with the Lord
Just a plain and simple chapel,
Where all good people go to pray,
I pray the Lord that I'll grow stronger,
I've searched, and I've searched,
But I couldn't find
Nowhere on earth to find peace of mind,
Now I'm happy in the chapel,
Where people are of one heart,
Yes we gather in the chapel,
Just to sing and praise the Lord
You'll search and you'll search
But you never find,
Nowhere on earth to find peace of mind,
Take your troubles to the chapel,
Get down on your knees and pray,
Then your burdens will be lightened,
And you'll surely find the way.
The song "Crying In The Chapel" by Aaron Neville is a song that centers on the search for peace of mind through faith. The lyrics start with the image of the singer crying in a chapel, but the tears shed are not of sadness, but of joy. The chapel is described as plain and simple, a place where good people go to pray. The singer knows the meaning of contentment and is happy with God.
The lyrics go on to describe the search for peace of mind. The singer has searched everywhere on earth, but couldn't find it. Then, they found happiness in the chapel where people are of one heart and gather to sing and praise the Lord. The song ends with an invitation to others who are searching for peace of mind to take their troubles to the chapel, get down on their knees and pray, and their burdens will be lightened, and they will surely find the way.
Overall, this song is a message of hope and faith, reminding listeners that they don't have to search for peace of mind alone, but can find it in God and in the community of believers who gather in the chapel.
