Stand on the rock where Moses stood
Pharaoh's army got drownded
O Mary don't you weep
O Mary don't you weep, don't mourn
O Mary don't you weep, don't mourn
Pharaoh's army got drownded
Well Mary wore three links and chains
On every link was Jesus' name
Pharaoh's army got drownded
O Mary don't you weep
O Mary don't you weep, don't mourn
O Mary don't you weep, don't mourn
Pharaoh's army got drownded
O Mary don't weep
Go!
Go!
Well one of these nights bout 12 o'clock
This old world is gonna rock
Pharaoh's army got drownded
O Mary don't you weep
Well Moses stood on the Red Sea shore
Smote' the water with a two by four
Pharaoh's army got drownded
O Mary don't you weep
Alright!
(O Mary don't you weep, don't mourn)
(O Mary don't you weep, don't mourn)
(Pharaoh's army got drownded)
(O Mary don't you weep)
Well old Mr. Satan he got mad
Missed that soul that he thought he had
Pharaoh's army got drownded
O Mary don't you weep
Brothers and sisters don't you cry
There'll be good times by and by
Pharaoh's army got drownded
O Mary don't weep
Well oh Mary don't you weep, don't mourn
O Mary don't you weep, don't mourn
Pharaoh's army got drownded
O Mary don't you weep
Solo, try it out!
(O Mary don't you weep, don't mourn)
(O Mary don't you weep, don't mourn)
(Pharaoh's army got drownded)
(O Mary don't weep)
Hey!
Drums!
God gave Noah the rainbow sign
"No more water but fire next time"
Pharaoh's army got drownded
O Mary don't you weep
O Mary don't you weep, don't (you) mourn
O Mary don't you weep, don't (you) mourn
Pharaoh's army got drownded
O Mary don't weep
O Mary don't you weep, don't mourn

Pharaoh's army got drownded
O Mary don't weep
Everybody!
(O Mary don't you weep, don't mourn)
(O Mary don't you weep, don't mourn)
(Pharaoh's army got drownded)
(O Mary don't weep)
O Mary don't you weep, don't mourn

(Pharaoh's army got drownded)

Aaron Neville's song "Mary Don't You Weep" is a traditional gospel song that has been performed by several musicians. This song is an upbeat spiritual song that appears to convey a message of hope and reassurance to Mary after the death of her son, Jesus Christ. The lyrics begin with a reference to the story of Moses and the parting of the Red Sea, and the drowning of Pharaoh's army. The song asserts that if the singer could, they would stand on the rock where Moses stood.
The song continues to recount other biblical references to support its message of hope, such as the chains Mary wore with Jesus' name on every link. The song also suggests that Satan was upset for missing the soul that he thought he had, which is a possible reference to the resurrection of Jesus. Finally, the song concludes with the message that there will be good times ahead and Pharaoh's army got drowned, so Mary should not weep.
Overall, the song appears to use these biblical references to encourage Mary and the listeners that even in times of despair and suffering, there is always hope for a better tomorrow.
