O Come All Ye Faithful
Aaron Neville Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him,
Born the King of Angels;
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O Sing, choirs of angels,
Sing in exultation,
Sing all that hear in heaven God's holy word.
Give to our Father glory in the Highest;
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.
All Hail! Lord, we greet Thee,
Born this happy morning,
O Jesus! for evermore be Thy name adored.
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing;
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.
Aaron Neville's rendition of "O Come All Ye Faithful" is a faithful interpretation of the classic Christmas carol. The joyful and triumphant opening line sets the tone for the rest of the song, serving as a call to worship the newborn King of Angels. The song invites listeners to come to Bethlehem and behold him, as he is the reason for the season. The repetition of the phrase "O come, let us adore Him" reinforces the message of the song and the ultimate reason for Christmas.
The second verse calls choirs of angels to sing with exultation and give glory to the Father in the highest. This is a nod to the biblical account of the events surrounding the birth of Jesus, where angels appeared to the shepherds to announce the Good News. The final verse of the song greets Jesus, born on a happy morning, and acknowledges him as the Word of the Father appearing in flesh. It continues the invitation to adore Him, recognizing Jesus as the reason for the Christmas season.
