White Christmas
Aaron Neville Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas,
Just like the ones I used to know
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas,
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
And may all your Christmases be white (all your Christmases be white)
And may all your Christmases be white (all your Christmases be white)
And may all your Christmases be
(All your Christmases be white)
(All your Christmases be white)
In the song "White Christmas" by Aaron Neville, he expresses his longing for a white Christmas, just like how it used to be. He remembers the time when he used to witness the treetops glistening with snow and the children eagerly waiting to hear the sound of the sleigh bells through the snowy winter days. The lyrics are soaked in nostalgia and emotion as he wishes for the times and experiences of his past to be repeated.
The chorus is repeatedly sung throughout the song, and the words "May your days be merry and bright, and may all your Christmases be white" are sung to extend the longing for a white Christmas to his listeners. There is a sense of hopeful longing in the lyrics as he looks forward to the holiday season with anticipation and excitement, wishing for all Christmases to be white, which would be pure and festive.
