Trapped
Abandon All Ships Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The holy water that you soak in is poison
Save yourself from all the lies that you drowned in
Pay us for your petty redemption
Paradise it comes at cost
Born free in a world of condition
My faith in humanity lost

I sit alone and wonder why
Where do we go after we die

Where the hell would we be
If we didn't truly believe that
Heaven is a place on earth

My body was a temple that I choose to destroy
Waiting on a savoir a plastic decoy
Twenty four seven three sixty five
Everything that kills me makes me feel alive

This house is haunted
I hear the sound
Of my faith being taunted
By souls that are bound to all the unwanted
Faceless people around, faithless people around

I sit alone and wonder why
Where do we go after we die

Heaven, heaven is a place on earth

Where the hell would we be

If we didn't truly believe that
Heaven is a place on earth

Overall Meaning

In the song "Trapped," Abandoned All Ships challenges the idea of faith and religion. The lyrics point out how the holy water that people find solace in is toxic and harmful. Instead of being a source of salvation, it is a trap, which eventually becomes the cause of people's destruction. The artists urge the listeners to save themselves from the web of lies and propaganda they have been fed in the name of religion. They point out how people are compelled to pay for their petty redemption, and how paradise does not come without a cost.

The lyrics indicate that people are born free but are confined to a world full of conditions that ultimately lead to them losing faith in humanity. The character in the song sits alone, wondering about life after death, and contemplates whether heaven is a place on earth. The lyrics suggest that our beliefs about heaven and salvation determine our behavior in life. The chorus sounds like a reminder that people often forget to enjoy the journey and become so caught up in the destination that they miss out on the simple pleasures in life.

The song also talks about how the character has destroyed their body, perhaps through drugs and other vices, waiting for salvation that never comes. They have become so dependent on hope that they often overlook the truth. They realize that everything that kills them also makes them feel alive. The song ends with the artist stating that as they are haunted by their loss of faith, they realize that they are not alone, and there are many others out there who feel the same.

I think you people need to pipe down. This band has made huge steps in their musical career, but on the other hand everyone is entitled to opinion but slating a band directly with barely any logic is unreasonable, they are very individual in their own right and deserve the credit they get purely because this album is a successful one. It doesn't matter how long it takes to create an album, the fact is, they did and the deserve to be credited, not slated.

Edwin Martinez

been of aas for a long time and got to admit each release the screams get worse but imo everything else is just too good
