At the End
Abatoir Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When I find my mind
When I find my faith
We will never be the same
Let me pray for you
Make this paing go away
Make me die for you
At the end
After the smoke go down
When I find myself
After I bury you
You'll never see the sunshine
The lyrics to Abatoir's song "At The End" depict a person who is struggling to cope with loss and despair. The repeated "After the smoke go down" line references the aftermath of a tragic event, likely a fire or explosion, which has left the singer emotionally shattered. They are desperately searching for meaning and purpose, searching for their "mind" and "faith". The line "We will never be the same" suggests that this event has irreversibly changed their life.
In the second verse, the singer turns to prayer as a means of finding solace. They offer to take on someone else's "paing" (pain) and to "die for you", indicating a willingness to sacrifice their own well-being for the sake of another. However, at the same time, they are searching for their own "hidden hope" – a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. The song ends on a haunting note, with the singer saying that after they inter their loved one, that person will "never see the sunshine" again.
Overall, "At The End" is a somber and introspective look at grief and the struggle to find hope in the face of tragedy. It highlights the universal human experience of loss and how people react to it, with its stirring lyrics and contemplative melody.
