(1) Aberdeen were an American rock band. Their musical style is similar to twee pop. The band formed in 1993 and by 1994 was signed to the seminal British label Sarah Records; they were one of only three American bands signed to Sarah (the other two being East River Pipe and The Springfields). They've also released recordings through Sunday Records and the Tremolo Arm Users Club. After Sarah folded in 1995, so did the band. They reformed in 2001, signed to Tremolo, and released a full-length album, two singles, and a maxi-CD (see discography below).
Possibly the band's biggest exposure came when one of their songs, "Sink or Float," was featured on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The song was also included on the UK edition of the series's second soundtrack album, Radio Sunnydale.
Aberdeen broke up again in 2005 as their members drifted to other projects. Lead singer Beth Arzy-Dean has also been a member of Trembling Blue Stars since 2000.
(2) Aberdeen are a grunge/alternative rock band from Dallas, Texas, comprised of Jake Linder and Matt Boiling.
(3) Aberdeen are a jazz/indie rock brass band based in Brooklyn, New York.
Cities and Buses
Aberdeen Lyrics

We used to drink from half full glasses
We used to ride through the city on buses
We used to fight the underground rushes
We used to run through city run houses
We used to drink from half full glasses
We used to fall from drunken down laughter
So please
come back to me
so I can be
happy again
So please
come back to me
so I can be
happy again
Cause we could be out there running
Out 'till the buses stop coming
We could be out there running
We could be out there running
You and me out there running
Out 'till the buses stop coming
You and me out there running
Out there running
"Cities and Buses" is a nostalgic song about the memories of running through city run houses and riding through the city on buses. The lyrics describe the struggles and joys of young adults living carefree lives in the city, engaging in fun activities like drinking from half-full glasses, fighting the underground rushes and falling from drunken down laughter. The song speaks of a desire to relive those moments and recapture the happiness that came with them. The chorus is an invitation to a former lover to come back, to be happy again and run through the city streets together.
The song's lyrics invoke a sense of longing for the past and a desire to reclaim the innocence and happiness of youth. The themes of nostalgia, lost love and yearning for the past are universal and relatable, making the song resonate with listeners of all ages. The use of everyday life imagery like running through city houses and riding on buses also adds to the song's relatability.
