(1) Ab… Read Full Bio ↴There are at least three (3) artists under the name Aberdeen.
(1) Aberdeen were an American rock band. Their musical style is similar to twee pop. The band formed in 1993 and by 1994 was signed to the seminal British label Sarah Records; they were one of only three American bands signed to Sarah (the other two being East River Pipe and The Springfields). They've also released recordings through Sunday Records and the Tremolo Arm Users Club. After Sarah folded in 1995, so did the band. They reformed in 2001, signed to Tremolo, and released a full-length album, two singles, and a maxi-CD (see discography below).
Possibly the band's biggest exposure came when one of their songs, "Sink or Float," was featured on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The song was also included on the UK edition of the series's second soundtrack album, Radio Sunnydale.
Aberdeen broke up again in 2005 as their members drifted to other projects. Lead singer Beth Arzy-Dean has also been a member of Trembling Blue Stars since 2000.
(2) Aberdeen are a grunge/alternative rock band from Dallas, Texas, comprised of Jake Linder and Matt Boiling.
(3) Aberdeen are a jazz/indie rock brass band based in Brooklyn, New York.
Toy Tambourine
Aberdeen Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It makes me hate the rain fall
Makes me hate it all
The smell of clothes and dust mites all around these walls
And I hate it all
And if you are here with me
But the rain just scares me
The child in your eyes
Makes me love the morning
Feeling you beside me
And if you are here with me
I'd throw away those memories
Now my thoughts just scare me
And when you smile
And when you smile
It makes me so
It makes me so warm
In "Toy Tambourine" by Aberdeen, the singer initially expresses how the sweetness of the person's smile next to them is in sharp contrast with the rainy and dreary weather outside. Despite the singer's negative feelings towards the rain and a dusty indoor environment, the person's smile brings some sense of warmth and comfort to the moment. In the next verse, the singer goes further to describe how the child-like innocence in the person's eyes brings an appreciation of the morning and a desire to have the person close by. The singing ends with the repeated affirmation that the person's smile has a significant positive effect on the singer's emotions by making them feel warm, taking away their fears, and creating feelings of love and intimacy.
