What If I Died Tomorrow
About Last Night Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Every day I try to see
the closeness that your promised me,
fades away,
it fades away.

Every night I try to dream
of what you wanted me to be,
in your life,
in your life.

Every dawn the light that wakes you up
will remind you of my touch.
that you miss so much.

What if i died tomorrow?
would you miss me here?
What if i cried tomorrow?
Would you shed your tears?

Every time you think about
the things you said
remind yourself im gone. ( im gone)

I hope you take this as a lesson learned.
Tomorrow isn't promised (nothing's promised.)

Every hour, every day gone by,
you'll cry for me,
you'll cry for me.

What if I died tomorrow?
would you miss me here?
What if I cried tomorrow?
Would you shead your tears?

A story's just been told that has happened yet.
Just a tragic foreshadowing
of what could happen to you.

Think before you speak,
it could be the last time ( the last time)
you ever speak to him.

What if I died tomorrow?
would you miss me here?
What if I cried tomorrow?
Would you shead your tears?

A story's just been told that has happened yet.

Just a tragic foreshadowing
of what could happen...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of About Last Night's song "What If I Died Tomorrow" portray a sense of uncertainty and longing for love and affection. The first verse talks about the promise of closeness fading away and the singer struggling to be what their partner truly wants in life. The chorus poses the hypothetical question of how their partner would feel if they were to die or cry tomorrow, highlighting the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing the people we love.

The second verse delves deeper into the aftermath of the singer's death, with their partner reminding themselves that they are gone and crying for them every day. The bridge acts as a cautionary tale, urging listeners to think before they speak because it could be the last time they ever speak to someone. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, emphasizing the powerful message of the importance of appreciating the people in our lives while we still can.

I'm the guitarist in this song, and I've been through hard times myself. Hang on, it gets better. It took until I was in my 30s to fully appreciate life and I wasn't too late, just hang on. You mean something to someone. Don't let them down.

@Cherry-zs4vt

hi! What happened to the band?

@aaronspy5491

The band split up about 10 years ago, unfortunately. Caleb (Spillyards) went on to join School Boy Humor for a short time, and took several of our songs he and I had written with him. This is why you might hear similar songs from their earlier tracks and their album.

It's crazy to me that this song is the one that caught the most attention and views out of ours (7+ million and counting), as it took the least amount of time to write and compose. We were in the studio recording i think Dialing for Disclosure, when I played the verses for this song picking on my guitar. After that it took about 15 minutes for Cory Lamb (our vocalist at the time) to come up with the premise and some of the lyrics. Where we spent hours and hours practicing and writing our other songs, this one took maybe an hour total because it was special from the jump and we knew it. Cory had lost a cousin to suicide recently, and it was like the lyrics flowed out of him automatically.

We, I, anybody, NEVER expected it to get so much attention when we recorded it 10+ years ago. We certainly never expected so many people to identify with it, and it's humbling. I listen to it now after going through a lot in my own life, and I'm taken aback. It hits home.

So thank you to those that uploaded it, covered it, made lyric vids out of it, etc. You actually helped ME, one of the ones that composed this song originally. Thank you all for keeping a tiny unknown band, from a tiny unknown state, and a tiny little unknown tune ALIVE :)

I asked my parents what would happen if i died tomorrow and they said at least they'd be done with my shit. Sometimes parents aren't there for you, but that doesn't mean life isn't worth it.
