Absurd Mind… Read Full Bio ↴"(AbsuЯd) Minds" is a futurepop music band from Germany.
Absurd Minds was formed in 1995 by Stefan Großmann (voice, composing) and Tilo Ladwig (composing, programming, sampling). Musically they were inspired by the EBM of the early 1990s.
Between 1995 and 1999, Absurd Minds released three CD-rs in limited quantities, laying the groundwork for further developments by the band. After a long creative phase their first concert took place at the Dresden club, "Bunker". As a result of this the band came into contact with "Music Cooperation" who subsequently became their management. A recording contract with the label Scanner followed in December 1999. In the meantime, Absurd Minds played in "Electromania II" in Leipzig. The recording for their first single, "Brainwash", and album, "Deception", began in January 2000.
In March, the band played live at the "Nostromo Festival" in Görlitz and opened for the "Electromania III" festival which was part of the "Wave-Gotik-Treffen" 2000. In December their second single, "Come Alive" appeared and in January 2001 they began recording the album "Damn the Lie". During this period the band took on a third member, Timo Fischer, who till then had only played as reinforcement during live performances.
Their third album "The Focus" followed in October 2003, with the singles "Master Builder" and "Herzlos" both doing well in the DAC. Another appearance at the "Wave-Gotik-Treffen" followed in 2004, whilst the fourth Absurd Minds album "Noumenon" was released in November 2005.
Currently, the most recent release from Absurd Minds is the EP "The Cycle" which was released in 2007. According to the bands' website a new album, "Serve or Suffer", is scheduled for 2010.

Absurd Minds Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Circling planets will never stop
I'm in the canalisation
And now
I'm coming to the top
There's a train that goes backwards
And a will to survive
Black spots cover my life
Feel the move
Start to groove
As I fade
You should know that I never wait
For somebody
I fell in love with my killer
This is hijacked emotion
Throwing kisses with a machine gun
In the name of devotion
And you feel good in your prison
How long is that going fine
Out in the critical distance
I can make the rules of the game
Feel the move
Start to groove
As I fade
You should know that I never wait
For somebody
The lyrics of Absurd Minds's song "Somebody" can be interpreted in a number of ways. At its core, the song is about feeling trapped and imprisoned in one's own life. The opening lines, "Yes you keep me in motion / Circling planets will never stop" suggest a feeling of being swept along by forces beyond one's control. The imagery of the canalization and coming to the top suggests a journey of self-discovery and rising above one's circumstances.
There's a sense of danger in the lyrics as well. The train that goes backwards and walking on razorblades both suggest a precarious situation. The reference to falling in love with one's killer and throwing kisses with a machine gun speak to a recklessness borne of desperation. The idea of feeling good in one's prison and how long that can even be sustainable implies a measure of resignation, but also a questioning of whether the status quo is tolerable.
Ultimately, the lyrics of "Somebody" suggest a desire for change and transformation. The refrain of "Feel the move / Start to groove / As I fade / You should know that I never wait / For somebody" suggests a sense of self-reliance and independence, to not wait for someone to save you, but to take action yourself.
