Get to the Point
Acappella Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Simply trying to stay on top of my game
Never thinking about consequences
Always finding me somebody to blame
But then it came together
When I read this letter
A message from somebody named Paul
He wrote of One who bought me All the things he taught me
I really thought I'd heard it all
Chorus:
Get to the point: I will if you ask me
Get to the point how have you changed?
I was on sinking ground
Until He turned me around
And I know I'll never be the same
Get to the point: I'm trying to tell you
Get to the point what have you done?
It is not what I've done
But what He's doin' for me
And I know we've only just begun
We've only just begun
Now I'm busy mindin' my Father's business
Tryin' to do what He told me to
And I still have that wonderful letter
Knowin' every time I read it it's new
Today I never worry
My vision's never blurry
I've found Someone to handle the stress (Jesus)
I know you really need Him
So would you like to meet Him I'm prayin' that the answer is yes
Repeat Chorus
Bridge:
All your efforts will be in vain (No matter what you do)
Trying to save yourself will drive you insane (He sees you through and through)
Crossing that final change with confidence (I'm crossing that line)
Is what you can do through His providence
Repeat Chorus (x2)
The song "Get to the Point" by Acappella talks about a personal transformation brought about by discovering the love and grace of Jesus Christ. The singer admits to living a selfish and irresponsible life, avoiding accountability by blaming others for their problems. However, everything changed when they received a letter from a man named Paul that spoke about Jesus and the impact He had on their life. The letter taught them about the saving grace of Jesus and how He bought them everything they needed. The singer was transformed and their vision cleared after finding Jesus, who handles all their stress. Through Jesus, the singer found a way to live a life confidently, without having to save themselves, because Jesus' providence takes care of them.
The chorus of the song repeats "Get to the point," which may be interpreted as a call to clarity and simplicity. The singer is no longer interested in living a life full of distractions and excuses. They want to cut to the chase and tell people about Jesus and the transformative effect He has had on their life. They want people to stop looking at all that they have done and focus on what Jesus has done for them. The bridge reinforces the idea that salvation is not attainable through human effort, but only through the grace and love of Jesus.
