Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Before arriving at their current lineup, Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes, being Hoffmann the last remaining original member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album.
Accept played an important role in the development of speed and thrash metal, and they were part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s. They have also been cited as an influence or inspiration by a number of acts, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, Anthrax, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Overkill, Exodus, and Annihilator, as well as fellow Germans such as Helloween, Blind Guardian, Doro, Sodom, Rage, and Grave Digger. Accept achieved its first commercial success with their fifth studio album Balls to the Wall (1983), which is the band's only album to be certified gold in the United States and Canada, and spawned their well-known hit "Balls to the Wall".
Accept have broken up and reformed multiple times. They first split up in 1989, several months after the release of Eat the Heat (which was their only album with Dirkschneider's initial replacement David Reece), but reformed in 1992 and released three more albums before disbanding again in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005, Accept announced their third reunion in 2009, with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider (who declined to participate), and the band has recorded five albums with him: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017) and Too Mean to Die (2021); each of those albums renewed Accept's popularity in Germany and entered the top ten charts there.

Fight It Back
Accept Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Who make the world evolve
Always been the average breaking it down
Majority the unknown
Giving us the rules
It's more than luck to get the standard
You'll never find me
You'll never treat me like you think you can
Be always independent
Surrendering no way
I won't deal with crimes of society
Now, if you hate it
You gotta fight it back
Just try to change it
Fight it, fight it back
Find myself in crisis
Get near to collapse
Am I forced to live that boring life
God, I hate the average
Go and nuke it out
Go, piss the accepted, screw them all
Now, if you hate it
You gotta fight it back
Just try to change it
Fight it, fight it back
Now, if you hate it
Fight It Back by Accept is a rebellious song that speaks to those who don't feel they fit in with society's expectations. The lyrics challenge the status quo and encourage listeners to fight against conformity. The opening lines acknowledge that there have always been "prophets" who lead the world forward and "average" people who try to hold them back. The majority remains unknown while those in power give us rules that define the standard. The singer asserts that he won't be constrained by these rules and won't be treated the way others think he can be. He values independence and won't tolerate the crimes of society.
The chorus urges listeners to take action. If you hate the way things are, you have to fight to change them. The second verse speaks to feeling overwhelmed by the pressure to conform. The singer feels like he's near a breaking point and wonders if he's forced to live a boring life. He hates the idea of being average and wants to "nuke it out" and reject what society deems as acceptable. The chorus reinforces the message that change is only possible through active resistance.

Saw them in '84 at the Santa Monica Civic/So-Cal. Played almost all of the songs on this album. I felt for that hour plus, at 19 y/o that my life was complete. Never forget real artists and real music.
