Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Before arriving at their current lineup, Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes, being Hoffmann the last remaining original member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album.
Accept played an important role in the development of speed and thrash metal, and they were part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s. They have also been cited as an influence or inspiration by a number of acts, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, Anthrax, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Overkill, Exodus, and Annihilator, as well as fellow Germans such as Helloween, Blind Guardian, Doro, Sodom, Rage, and Grave Digger. Accept achieved its first commercial success with their fifth studio album Balls to the Wall (1983), which is the band's only album to be certified gold in the United States and Canada, and spawned their well-known hit "Balls to the Wall".
Accept have broken up and reformed multiple times. They first split up in 1989, several months after the release of Eat the Heat (which was their only album with Dirkschneider's initial replacement David Reece), but reformed in 1992 and released three more albums before disbanding again in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005, Accept announced their third reunion in 2009, with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider (who declined to participate), and the band has recorded five albums with him: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017) and Too Mean to Die (2021); each of those albums renewed Accept's popularity in Germany and entered the top ten charts there.

But she doesn't want to know
You tried so much to take her
But there's no way to go
I know that kind of feeling
Knocking on someone's door
I know the endless crying
Write a letter (what's the matter)
You'll feel better (write a letter)
You'll feel better when it's done
There is one way to show
What you feel for the girl
Write her a lovely letter
Tell her what you're looking for
Don't think it's old fashion
To take one's heart (when it's true)
You gotta take it as a man
When you can't win her in this game
Write a letter (what's the matter)
You'll feel better (write a letter)
You'll feel better when it's done
There are losers and winners
Just like you and me
Losers and winners - just like you and me
You should give me the letter
I'll use it for my own (ha ha)
Maybe she wants to take me
Before she stays alone
Could be my destination
To pick up broken heart
Why don't you take it easy
And screw the girl who's next to you
Write a letter (what's the matter)
You'll feel better (write a letter)
You'll feel better when it's done
There are losers and winners
Just like you and me
Losers and winners
Just like you and me
Losers and winners
The song "Losers and Winners" by Accept is about unrequited love, a common theme in many love songs. The lyrics describe the frustration of being attracted to someone who doesn't reciprocate those feelings. The singer advises the listener to write a letter to the person they like, explaining their feelings, regardless of how outdated this may seem. It's a way to show what you feel for the girl and tell her what you're looking for. He also acknowledges that there are losers and winners in love, and sometimes you just can't win, but it's important to take it like a man and move on.
The lyrics of the song are relatable to many people who have experienced unrequited love or rejection. It’s a message of hope that an action can be taken to overcome this situation. Also, the song has a catchy melody and upbeat rhythm, which makes it an enjoyable listen.
