Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Before arriving at their current lineup, Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes, being Hoffmann the last remaining original member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album.
Accept played an important role in the development of speed and thrash metal, and they were part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s. They have also been cited as an influence or inspiration by a number of acts, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, Anthrax, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Overkill, Exodus, and Annihilator, as well as fellow Germans such as Helloween, Blind Guardian, Doro, Sodom, Rage, and Grave Digger. Accept achieved its first commercial success with their fifth studio album Balls to the Wall (1983), which is the band's only album to be certified gold in the United States and Canada, and spawned their well-known hit "Balls to the Wall".
Accept have broken up and reformed multiple times. They first split up in 1989, several months after the release of Eat the Heat (which was their only album with Dirkschneider's initial replacement David Reece), but reformed in 1992 and released three more albums before disbanding again in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005, Accept announced their third reunion in 2009, with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider (who declined to participate), and the band has recorded five albums with him: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017) and Too Mean to Die (2021); each of those albums renewed Accept's popularity in Germany and entered the top ten charts there.

Midnight Mover
Accept Lyrics

I show you something
There is what it takes for you
Mmm, you better follow me
Not gonna ease your pain
Ooh, you will remember me
That's it, what they used to say
Slow down, back off
Tell him you don't pay the price
He is a midnight mover
Coming in the night, going with the light
He is a midnight mover
He can't go on in the sunlight
You better use your brain
Ooh, you are forever free
That's it, there's no place to stay
For someone who is losing, it's not funny
Slow down, back off
Tell him you don't pay the price
He is a midnight mover
Coming in the night, going with the light
He is a midnight mover
Midnight mover, midnight mover
He is a midnight mover
Coming in the night, going with the light
He is a midnight mover
He can't go on in the sunlight
He is a midnight mover
Coming in the night, going with the light
He is a midnight mover
He can't go on in the sunlight
The song Midnight Mover by Accept portrays a character who is a natural seducer and a hustler. The song begins with the singer inviting the listener to join him and witness something that takes courage and a willingness to bend the rules. The listener is warned that the singer is not going to ease their pain; on the contrary, they will remember him after the experience. The singer alludes to the charming and deceptive ways he uses to manipulate people for money. He encourages the listener to be smart and not let themselves be scammed by someone who is a hustler. The lyrics in the chorus reveal the singer's personality, which is a "midnight mover" who only operates at night and cannot handle being exposed to the light.
The lyrics in the second stanza echo the chorus with the singer explicitly informing the listener that there's no place to stay "for someone who is losing." He's telling them that it's not funny to be broke and they should avoid being taken advantage of by sly operators like himself. The song ends with a repeat of the chorus, reminding the listener of the character's preferred modus operandi and his aversion to daylight.
Overall, the song offers a glimpse into the world of a hustler and the manipulative tactics used to deceive people for financial gain. It also warns against being taken advantage of by predatory individuals and the importance of staying vigilant.

The sound Accept achieved in this song is so captivating to me. They should have won awards for this song. The way the sound cuts through me, it transformed my soul into mach 5 breaking the sound barrier. That is my best shot at articulating how it makes me feel.
