Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Before arriving at their current lineup, Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes, being Hoffmann the last remaining original member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album.
Accept played an important role in the development of speed and thrash metal, and they were part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s. They have also been cited as an influence or inspiration by a number of acts, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, Anthrax, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Overkill, Exodus, and Annihilator, as well as fellow Germans such as Helloween, Blind Guardian, Doro, Sodom, Rage, and Grave Digger. Accept achieved its first commercial success with their fifth studio album Balls to the Wall (1983), which is the band's only album to be certified gold in the United States and Canada, and spawned their well-known hit "Balls to the Wall".
Accept have broken up and reformed multiple times. They first split up in 1989, several months after the release of Eat the Heat (which was their only album with Dirkschneider's initial replacement David Reece), but reformed in 1992 and released three more albums before disbanding again in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005, Accept announced their third reunion in 2009, with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider (who declined to participate), and the band has recorded five albums with him: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017) and Too Mean to Die (2021); each of those albums renewed Accept's popularity in Germany and entered the top ten charts there.

Accept Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And know what you want
And fight ev'ryone in your way
You're the one who sweats
And what do you get
When someone else picks up your pay
It's a fight to the end with a pack
You work all day long
You're stuck to the phone
Burn up a hundred cigarettes
The yes men you know
They tell you no go
And dissatisfaction's all you get
Oh, when you're needing a queen
Ev'ry card that you get is a jack
Accept what we do
This message to you
Is rock forever and ever
We've still got the feel
The music is real
And we'll rock 'n' roll forever, forever
You gotta be strong
We'll rock 'n' roll
Forever
No sword and no knife
Can help you survive
Survival is a business head
A good deal you need
Or you're lost in their greed
You're rotten, helpless, dead
Hey, when you're fightin' a wolf
It's a fight to the end with a pack
Accept what we do
This message to you
Is rock forever and ever
We've still got the feel
The music is real
And we'll rock 'n' roll forever, forever
Accept what we do
This message to you
Is rock forever and ever
We've still got the feel
The music is real
And we'll rock 'n' roll forever
The lyrics to Accept's song "Feelings" revolve around the theme of perseverance in the face of adversity. The song urges its listeners to be strong and know what they want, because life can often be a struggle. It encourages them to fight against the challenges they face and not let others get in the way of their success. The lyrics also touch on the idea of paying dues, with lines about working hard all day and being stuck to the phone. The song acknowledges that life can be difficult, but it encourages listeners to never give up and to keep on fighting.
One of the most interesting aspects of "Feelings" is the fact that it was released as a B-side to Accept's hit single "Balls to the Wall." Given that "Balls to the Wall" is one of the band's most well-known songs, it's interesting to consider how "Feelings" might have been more appreciated if it had been given its own release. The song's lyrics also show a maturity and wisdom that wasn't always present in Accept's earlier work, which focused more on heavy metal tropes like Satanism and violence.
