Ace Troubleshooter came to an abrupt end in February 2005 when lead singer John Warne left to play bass for Relient K. Toby David posted the announcement of the Ace's death on the band's message board, mentioning that even though he was not an original member of the band, he felt like he was. It has been said that Ace was starting to fall apart as it was, and they were not going anywhere, which may have led to the band's split.
The Ace Troubleshooter lineup changed several times; even Relient K former drummer Dave Douglas filled in as a guitarist for a short time. Only two original members remained when the band came to an end. Those two members, John Warne and Josh Abbott, both played in the short-lived band Guerilla Rodeo shortly before Ace's death. While John Warne went on to play for Relient K, Josh Abbott went on to play for My Red Hot Nightmare.

Ace Troubleshooter Lyrics

But he had an end
Oh yes, I did send him into an eternal sleep
I'm so sorry, boy
No longer my toy
Oh my pride and joy
You no longer go beep
I'm so sorry boy, I hope you rest in peace
Oh my Rudy, how I miss you
Maybe we'll meet in a better world
Filled with penguin boys and penguin girls
But until then my love for you will never cease
And I just hope that you will rest in peace
The lyrics of Ace Troubleshooter's song "Rudy" tell the story of the singer's former friendship with an electronic penguin named Rudy. The song is, on the surface, about the destruction of this toy and the singer's regret for what happened. However, beneath the surface, the lyrics represent a deeper loss and a warning about the danger of unchecked pride.
The song's first verse tells us that Rudy was, at one point, the singer's friend. However, he met an untimely end, and it was the singer who was responsible for sending him to "eternal sleep". The second half of the verse has the singer apologizing to Rudy, explaining that he was once his "pride and joy", but now he no longer "go(es) beep". The second verse tells us about how the singer misses Rudy and wishes they could meet again in a better world filled with other penguin toys. The final lines of the song represent the singer's hope that Rudy can rest in peace.
While on the surface, the song is only about the loss of a toy and a boy's regret for its destruction, fundamentally, it represents a deeper message about the danger of pride. The song warns that unchecked pride can lead us to destroy what we once loved and cared about. It also reminds us of the fleeting nature of things in our lives that we may care for and cherish at one point, but which can be taken away from us in a sudden moment, leaving us with a sense of regret and mourning.
