The project started out in 2004 as an experimental project with with an acoustic guitar, found sounds and household objects which was the Playing God demo. The music then took a turn towards more of an experimental indie/folk project with the releases With Love Heart & Soul From Me To You and Drug Songs. The experimental folk sound continued with the ep Kantucky which was recorded in Kentucky with the help of some from friends from said state. After some time playing in other musical projects such as the harsh noise group Piasa he recorded the album Sex & Drugs which was a very harsh and noisey drone/doom album which was released via KMO/MSD Records. In an opiate filled haze the Oblivion recording also came out which was drone/doom still but with a huge lo-fi harsh noise influence. When the project went electric and after Tristan felt comfortable playing live after doing a few tours with Piasa he started playing around the general DC/VA/MD area. For a year or two the shows would include many musicians and noise makers he had met and soon there became a 'full band' version of Acheronian. The only song that they managed to record was the song they played out the most called This.Whole.Town.Is.One.Vast.Hospital. The song pretty much summed up the life of Acheronian till the hectic, emotional and drug fueled breakdown that lead to everything ending in 2009.
This.Whole.Town.Is.One.Vast.Hospital remains unreleased.
Addiction
Acheronian Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Not tonight, not tomorrow.
Not in the morning.
Me and you...
Done.
Like every fucking ex-boyfriend that gets laid every weekend.
Let's let this binge come to an end.
No more days...
And black fingertips.
Let's tonight...
Just tonight... Just one night.
The lyrics of Acheronian's song Addiction narrate the struggle of a person trying to put an end to their self-destructive habits. The song talks about the theme of addiction, primarily drug addiction, and its devastating effects. The opening line, "Let this binge come to an end," indicates the singer's distress towards their situation and highlights the desire to break free from their addiction. The lines, "Not tonight, not tomorrow, not in the morning," signify the resolve of the singer to quit their habit right away and avoid any further procrastination.
The lyrics also document the state of unfulfilled and unhealthy relationships that often go hand-in-hand with addiction. The line, "Me and you... done," suggests that the singer has had enough of the toxic relationship that fuels their addiction, reminiscent of many real-life situations where addicts resort to using drugs as a coping mechanism for their relationship issues. The lines, "Like every fucking ex-boyfriend that gets laid every weekend," further reinforces the idea of using drugs to fill the emotional void left by the end of a relationship. Finally, the line, "Let's tonight... just tonight... Just one night," can be interpreted as a plea from the singer to themselves to help them stay clean for the night.
