Their music is often regarded as hard to label under one certain genre. While sweeping across many sounds, Acid Bath put out two records of considerable influence, which opened a gateway for heavy metal music to be versatile and emotional without sacrificing its creative character or brute force. Their music incorporates influences ranging from sludge, doom metal, death metal, hardcore punk, stoner rock, thrash metal and grunge.
The variation in their music has reached far from the underground music into many hardcore, doom metal and stoner rock bands. Frontman Dax Riggs currently performs a solo artist, although he was the singer and guitarist for Agents of Oblivion. He then played for Deadboy & the Elephantmen. Guitarist Sammy Duet played in Crowbar for some time. He now plays for Goatwhore.

And felt this weight upon open eyes
New death sensation
Flesh flowers dream to bloom
Illumination
New death sensation
We dance the stone death naked by the shore
Illumination
New death sensation
Empty is this tomb
Lay this flesh to waste
Let the pieces fall where they may
Insects play their sunshine games
Splashing blood upon my soul
Crisp black kiss upon my skull
Lay this flesh to waste
Let the pieces fall where they may
Let the worms play their sunshine games
Splashing blood upon my soul
Crisp black kiss upon my skull
Empty is this tomb
The lyrics of "New Death Sensation" by Acid Bath seem to be deeply introspective and metaphysical. The opening line "I wonder have you ever seen the sky" suggests a sense of longing for a connection to something greater than oneself. The weight upon open eyes is perhaps a metaphor for the burden of existence, and the subsequent line "new death sensation" evokes a sense of rebirth or transcendence.
The lines "flesh flowers dream to bloom" and "We dance the stone death naked by the shore" are both evocative images of the cycle of life and death. The concept of the "stone death" suggests a permanent, unchanging state, while the act of dancing naked by the shore suggests a connection to the natural world and a celebration of life.
The final lines of the song, "Let the pieces fall where they may/Lay this flesh to waste/Empty is this tomb" seem to speak to a sense of acceptance of the inevitability of death and decay. The repetition of the phrase "new death sensation" throughout the song suggests an embrace of the cycle of life and death and a willingness to let go of the physical body in order to transcend to a new form of being.
