God Don't Forgive
Act of God Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Deep in darkness exists the place
Reserved for men by lord
No time, no motion, no hope
No death only eternal pain

God why do you hate us
We must suffer but why
At the face of heavens basher
Loving father - who are you in reality?

No reason in death
In waiting for mass cremations
God don't forgive
It is written on the walls of hell

I see the angels
I feel their inspiration to kill

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Act of God's song "God Don't Forgive" are deep and contemplative. They speak to the idea that there is a place in darkness reserved for men by the lord, a place where there is no time, no motion, no hope, and no death, only eternal pain. It questions the reasoning behind the suffering inflicted upon humans when God is supposed to be a loving father. The lyrics suggest that at the face of heavens basher, we question who God really is. The singer of the song is pained and searching for answers.

The lyrics go on to say that there is no reason in death and waiting for mass cremations. It seems that there is no easy answer to the reason behind human suffering, and the sorrow and anger become more palpable with the line "God don't forgive, it's written on the walls of hell." Despite the seeming frustration with God's actions (or inaction), the singer seems to find inspiration in angels who inspire him to kill.

Overall, the song is a meditation on the nature of God and why humans are made to suffer. It acknowledges the pain of this existence but also suggests that there may be inspiration and hope to be found in spite of it.

maybe u rigth, but u cant deny this band sounds pretty good, u posted in 2 of the vids, so u take ur time to listen this.

Whether you like the vocals or not, you can't deny it's original. There aren't enough bands with operatic female vocals that reach this kind of intensity.

yeah, though I have to say this really is some of the weirdest shit I've ever heard... kinda intrigues me though... I'm not that much into opera metal stuff, but this is much better than nightwish, therion and all that stuff. anyway rock on!

Remember for those of you who believe in anything. Everything is a construct of the human mind, your god, your satan, only exist though our creation. While yes belief is a powerful tool and can help those in need. It is belief that things can change, that things will get better. Not that some almighty being makes it so. Stop looking for answers and make your own. Forge your own life, find your own truths. And know that everything we know has been created by us.

What are you talking about, AC/DC are awesome.

@AgentHomer Well that was the point of Jesus' sacrifice so that god would start to forgive. Hence the not destroying of whole cities in the New Testament. That said, I'm a Christian and I still like this band. For me it's just music, and I don't really think god is going to send you to hell for your music taste.

@AgentHomer To err is human, to forgive is divine -

@DMU555 why does god have to have his son killed to become merciful? doesn't make much sense to me. and what about the people born before jesus? have they just had bad luck? anyway, I agree, even though this is definitely antichristian, you'd be kinda silly to consider just listening to it a sin.
