The lineup consists of:
Mark Thomas Kluepfel (singer/songwriting)
Adam Manning (guitar)
Clarke Foley (bass)
Dan Leo (drums)
In the studio while recording their debut, Don't Cut Your Fabric to This Year's Fashion, they employed synths to flesh out their sound and help set themselves apart from the typical rock-based indie act who normally do not experiment beyond basic rock instrumentation.
The band has finished recording their second album, An Army of Shapes Between Wars, which was released on January 24, 2006. The album makes more use of synthesizers and string sections.

The Game
Action Action Lyrics

Why can't we dream?
Fantasize without compromise,
A tear duct short of an alibi.
Please thaw me out,
And brush me off.
Is love quite the fallacy,
Underneath the mystery?
So, you finally came,
Right out of my head,
And into my arms.
Now these feelings I know,
I'll never let go,
I've beaten the game.
My alter ego's upstairs strung out on the couch.
I need a touch of innocence,
So comfortable.
So velvet lush and nectarous,
There is a price to pay for dreaming.
Is love an emergency?
Join in my perplexity!
So, you finally came,
Right out of my head,
And into my arms.
Now these feelings I know,
I'll never let go,
I've beaten the game.
The lyrics of Action And Action's song The Game express the hesitancy and fear of falling in love, despite the desire to dream and fantasize without compromise. The singer questions the validity of love and wonders if it is simply a fallacy that lies beneath the mystery of human relationships. The lyrics suggest a sense of vulnerability and insecurity, as the singer feels the need to be "thawed out" and "brushed off," as if they have been frozen in fear.
As the song progresses, the singer describes the arrival of their love interest, who has "finally came right out of [their] head and into [their] arms." This marks a turning point for the singer, who acknowledges that these feelings are real and that they will never let go of them. They have "beaten the game," implying that they have overcome their fear of love and are ready to embrace it.
