Thanks for shedding light on this! In a true brand collaboration you would never have to pay for the product or shipping and while it can be so exciting when a brand reaches out its important to take a step back and ask yourself if it seems real. If know for me my gut reaction is always right so I hope other creators learn to trust their instincts and look out for these scams too. Great video!

Such a great video! There are so many brands on Instagram just like this. My sister almost got scammed into doing this but realized it was a scam because they wanted her to buy something and she quickly backed out luckily. It’s really unfortunate how many people fall for this because of the promise of potentially becoming an influencer!

I’ve had two different accounts claiming to be representatives of the brands which have like 100k followers on Instagram. The first time I was told to purchase their products so that my picture would be posted on their account. I didn’t proceed to do what they asked me to. The next time, a so-called rep from a different brand told me that I would get free products from them and I would be their brand am. However, after talking with them for a while, they told me that the products are free but I would have to pay for the shipping cost which is around 34.45 pounds (which can be used to buy many products like those that they sell). So that’s when I stopped contacting them.

Yes! April moon is supr annoying stalking mums and their babies. I found out what tags they follow and comment on and stopped using these tags but it's sad. I've seen so many mums that have been sucked into this and are even trying to promote them and trying to get people to use their personal discount code so that they get part of that spent money back 🤦‍♀️

This isn't just on IG. When I had my photography biz, LOTS of photographers... real local people... market to high school seniors to be a brand ambassador! They have to BUY photo package, of course at a GREAT DEAL, then post photos and tag photog. The photogs offer some "Freebies" for this privilege, but they r usually things that the photographer can reprint for no cost. Shady peeps r everywhere!!

I've got an interesting case: Addison Cole : There were multiple accounts from this brand trying to reach me, and I answered to one of them. Thanks for letting me know this is most likely a scam. I ordered from them since their prices were "so high up" and the only thing I had to do was pay shipment and post their products when I had them. The shipment came to a total of 50 dollars. (300 dollars difference with the "original price") They are sending my products one by one i think (since I only have one of the 5 at the moment) so the shipping is that high... This is when I realised it was a scam and I looked up a video of that and ended here.

Being an artist, the ones I've seen the most have been fake art buyers ("I can only pay by check"), fake invitations to exhibitions (that, of course, have an entry fee!), and offers to get featured on their account (accounts that seem to have bought an audience)

it must be a legit situation , maybe their product could be something you physically get at a store. id focus on finding legit products off a shelf and going to their site to see if they have such programs. Many will require a legit process and may ask for a certain amount of followers.

Thank you! Really important to spread this information because Instagram is flooded with that scam. Also it is very hard for creators who just recently got 'on the radar' of these accounts that it is a scam. Personally, I go by the rule, that whenever I myself should invest money, it is likely a scam. My teacher in middle school always said regarding the internet: 'don't be naive' and he meant to not share personal info with anyone and also to back up information by at least a second source. I hated his class, but it is super helpful now. 😅😆

Wish I would’ve seen this before yesterday. This girl got me on a scam like this. She pretended she wanted me to be a “brand ambassador” for her hair page and asked me to send her money once for a free wig each month and to be a face of her brand. I hate people who do this. They don’t understand that people work hard for their money and may be going through a hard time which I am so this is very detrimental to someone like me. What’s worse is I sent it through cash app so I can’t even get my money back. Even after checking her reviews, I was still scammed. I didn’t even care about being promoted. I only did it because I can’t afford to get my hair done right now and it seemed like a blessing to receive a nice wig and feel a little better about myself but I should’ve went with my gut. I wish I would have found this yesterday!!! Thankfully this is more of a we scammed you into buying something rather than we took your credit card and wracked up a million dollars worth of bills. The one that got me even talked all about a charity that they provide a portion of their profits to. I did a quick search a and there was a website for the charity because I did ask for the specific name. How gross.

@MissUtah2021 I was scammed exactly like this, just pay shipping only the first time they say, then quarterly I would get 3 free items to choose from. But I highly think they're scammers because on BBB, a similar named company has one star reviews. They have also changed their website to "coming soon" right after they scammed a bunch of people including me. I saw the Instagrammers on their story who they scammed. So be careful even if you have to pay shipping alone. That can be tricky too.

Hey Katie, thank you very much for your video. A scammer wrote to me two days ago. Cooperation, discount, blah, blah ... But I only became skeptical when I asked a few more direct questions and he then evaded. Luckily nothing happened.

The commentary on this is very interesting to say the least. I do get plenty of dm comments as she says. I actually did buy the products (paid for shipping/part of the product) and received them through Balanzi and even received an ambassadorship offer, and I signed up via their ambassador portal. So far so good...I find her commentary about paying for shipping very interesting especially now, given that currently supply chain issues are plaguing the entire world.

Super interesting and very well made! I've been approached a few times by email to be a "brand ambassador" and get a discounted item and I've always done a little research on the company and almost never find anything that looks legit.

Yes I always get these requests. Such spam. I usually ignore it and definitely make sure to google first. Thank God I’ve raised my standards and only work with well known, reputable brands.
