Gun Lover
Acumen Nation Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I DON'T FUCKING CARE
About the state of the nation
About the state of your mind
About the states and capitalism...
(Rhythm schism)
Cares about the fate of your race
Who cares about the waste of your time?
(In fact it's just another pin prick)

I DON'T FUCKING CARE
About the sick in the streets
About the sick in your mind
About the excuses for sickness...
(In this furnace)
Burn about the city streets and
Burn about their sleepy beds
Teach them the ways of crazy poets

Turn around and buy yourself a gun
Yes I said by yourself alone
Let no one breathe and no one see
The hate you love to show me

I DON'T FUCKING CARE
About the violence at home
I've got every reason to live alone
Yes, but sometimes I love me mother...
(What she got? Not a lot!)
Hero walks the beaten path
His beaten ass an avalanche
Of guilty witness every day

I DON'T FUCKING CARE
About the white man's problem
Progressive in his mind is fodder
It's time to teach the boys a lesson...
(Rip 'em! Sick 'em!)
Death to all of those who oppose!
Death to all in 70's clothes!

Death to those who've fallen
And they can't get off!

Overall Meaning

The song "Gun Lover" by Acumen Nation is a commentary on the state of society and indifference towards important issues that plague it, such as violence, capitalism, and oppression. The singer of the song claims that they don't care about anything, from the state of the nation to the state of their own mind. The lyrics are an embodiment of the apathy and nihilism that pervades society, where people no longer care about issues that affect them and those around them. The use of repetition in the lyrics, particularly the line "I DON'T FUCKING CARE," highlights the singer's detachment and disinterest in the world around them.

The song also references the American obsession with guns and the culture of violence that it promotes. The line "Turn around and buy yourself a gun" suggests that owning a gun is a solution to problems, even though it only perpetuates the cycle of violence. The lyrics "Let no one breathe and no one see / The hate you love to show me" show the singer's desire to inflict pain and harm on others, which is a reflection of the violent culture propagated by the obsession with guns.

Overall, "Gun Lover" is a scathing commentary on the societal issues that plague American society, from the indifference towards important issues to the violent culture perpetuated by the obsession with guns.
