Fear Circus
Adagio Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm sure you'll enjoy the ride
Hellish dreams, it's the time
You've been all waiting for
Let me please show you the way
The grim reaper awaits
Flat fifth whistle announces
Like a wrecking bone
The train is gone
Next station please
Fasten the belts
Three minutes left
To the fear circus
Do you feel the winter?
The frozen kiss awakens your sorrow
Leave behind those ancient towns
Forget, bring thy pain and mourn
Let me please show you the way
The grim reaper awaits
Flat fifth whistle announces
The deadly departure
Like a wrecking bone
The train is gone
Next station please
Fasten the belts
Three minutes left
To the fear circus
The song Fear Circus by Adagio portrays a dark, mysterious and unsettling world. The lyrics are expressed in second person and seem to address the listener. The song speaks of a train ride with an unknown destination, where the ride itself seems to be the attraction. The invitation "Come with me, don't be scared, I'm sure you'll enjoy the ride" almost seems sinister, as if the invitation is coming from a conductor who is a reminder of the grim reaper. The lyrics speak of "Hellish dreams," which suggests that the destination may not be a pleasant one. The phrase "The grim reaper awaits" further reinforces the idea that the destination may be death or an unknown purgatory.
The song seems to be a commentary on the human experience, which is ultimately a journey towards an unknown destination. The train in the song can be seen as a metaphor for life's journey, which is sometimes uncomfortable, dark and unsettling, but must be endured. The lyrics suggest that life’s journey is not all sunshine and rainbows, and that the listener is being taken on a journey that they will not necessarily enjoy. The line ‘Let me please show you the way’ is both unsettling and welcoming at the same time, and the flat fifth whistle that announces the scary departure seems to set the tone for an experience that is full of dread.

I must admit that it's a extremely good song! I'm going to buy the album at the first chance i get! :) I must admit that the intro sounds ALOT like the Pantera - Walk riff! Is it "on pourpose" or did it just "end up" like that? :)
