The Stringless Violin
Adagio Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Now the time has come to face, my untold fears
Every waking hour, drained me through the years
So that I'm not one with myself my strength, my gift
Is destined to be forgotten

I have seen the world begin,
In the mirror of the past
I pray the life giving force
Still holds the strength, to last

As I lay dying
I understand,
The reason for my life
My fear slips away, the new world begins.

In a darkened corner
The horror that waits for me prey's on my only success
Save my innocence
Keep the darkness from my door

I have seen the world begin,
In the mirror of the past
I pray the life giving force
Still holds the strength, to last

As I lay dying
I understand,

The reason for my life
My fear slips away, the new world begins.

Overall Meaning

The Stringless Violin by Adagio is a deeply emotional and introspective song that reflects on the struggle of facing one's fears and the desire for the strength to endure in the face of uncertainty. The lyrics are rich in symbolism and metaphor, creating a vivid narrative that speaks to the human condition.

The opening lines, "Now the time has come to face, my untold fears / Every waking hour, drained me through the years," speak to the internal battle that one may feel when confronting their deepest anxieties. The following line, "So that I'm not one with myself my strength, my gift / Is destined to be forgotten," suggests that this fear has taken a toll on the singer's ability to connect with themselves and utilize their own innate talents.

The second verse continues to reflect on the past and the singer's desire for the life-giving force to endure amidst the uncertainty of the present. The lines, "As I lay dying / I understand, / The reason for my life / My fear slips away, the new world begins," suggest a rebirth or transformation that occurs when one finally faces and overcomes their fears.

The final verse takes a darker turn, referencing a "horror that waits" for the singer and the need to protect their innocence from the darkness. Despite this impending threat, the song ends on a hopeful note with the repetition of the second verse's refrain and the sense that the human spirit has the strength to persevere through even the darkest of times.

Ancient Ruins Official didn't knew they had already released 3 new songs, I have been lost looking for other band, pyramaze, forgot Adagio, I stopped enjoying so much since David Readman left the band. I'm going to check that two songs

Ancient Ruins Official

Just posted the new adagio songs on my page... These two songs remind me of the classic Readman years...Great vocals

Drevilrodrigues

Have already listen Torn,I'm going to listen Carry the Cross, it's funny that after SAnctus Ignis and Underworld not also Adagio didn't achieve again the same unanimity and success as David Readman didn't have also many success outside Adagio, is Solo album is good, but comparing to the solo album of DC Cooper(Where Readman also enters) it is poorer and Pink Cream 69 the other project from Readman never catch my attention
