Recently Adam and Joe have reached cult status again, this time through the medium of radio. Filling in for Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington, they began a 3 year stint at London-only radio station Xfm in 2003, which spawned a series of popular podcasts. Their move to BBC6 Music in 2007 reached larger audiences and their mix of shambolic presentation, pop-culture discussion and original comedy songs (pitted against each other in “Song Wars”) has earned their Saturday morning show a hardcore fanbase and, somewhat reluctantly, its own unexplainable catchphrase: “STEPHEN!”
Antiques Roadshow

There's nothing else on the TV
Check it out now, it's the Antiques Roadshow,
Looking at old stuff, seeing if it's worth dough
Fiona Bruce hosts the event
Which comes this week from Stoke-on-Trent
Check it out now, it's the Antiques Roadshow
Where did you find this delightful clock?
What a marvellously unusual jewellery box!
What a stunning lithograph of the Albert Docks!
What a beautiful painting of hollyhocks!
I just adore this chest of drawers of yours,
it's from the Civil War
Check it out now, it's the Antiques Roadshow
Looking at old stuff, seeing if it's worth dough
The sun is bright, the crowds polite,
And mostly white, but that's alright
Check it out now, it's the Antiques Roadshow
Looking at old stuff, seeing if it's worth dough
What's on the other side? It's Britannia High
Boy that show's done, back to channel One
Here's a farmer with a suit of armour
A bloke from Ghana with a stuffed llama
Those cufflinks in the expert's hands
Cost ten bob but they're worth thirty grand
Now bring your stuff to the BBC
We'll evaluate your antiques for free
You might even get to be on TV!
The song Antiques Roadshow by Adam & Joe is a humorous take on the popular British television show Antiques Roadshow. The song describes the experience of watching the show on a boring Sunday evening, with nothing else on TV. The hosts and location of the event are highlighted as Fiona Bruce and the show being set in Stoke-on-Trent. The lyrics describe the excitement of seeing people's reactions when their old items are valued at a higher price than expected. The song references various types of antiques - a clock, jewelry box, lithograph, painting, and chest of drawers - and their potential worth. The chorus repeats that the show is "Looking at old stuff, seeing if it's worth dough".
The song also includes some commentary on the demographics of the show's attendees, noting that the crowds are mostly white, but that's alright. It also briefly mentions another TV show, Britannia High, before returning to the Antiques Roadshow.
Overall, the song provides a tongue-in-cheek commentary on the appeal of Antiques Roadshow, highlighting both the excitement of seeing valuable antiques and the somewhat dull nature of watching people look at old items.

Britannia High. That dates this! Ahhh I adored the Adam and Joe show on Saturday mornings. I religiously downloaded the podcast back then. Listening now reminds me of those better times.

Only lasted a few years but was required listening at the time. Few manage to get music and laughs right on the radio but these guys did.
@englishbanana
I love this song. Joe's best ever?? Apart from the retro text the nation jingle.
@danielbrewster5362
Yes quite agree. I bet it won that weeks Song Wars. I bet @AdamBuxton must still be smarting over the Retro Text The Nation jingle.

After all these years and many listens...
Does Joe know what a Bob is worth?
@MrChops27
I listened to the podcast on the tube the other day and when this came on I started giggling so much that I had to quickly think about sad things so I didn't look like a laughing looney. Great work Jo, now stop procrastinating and get on with some work!
