The 24-year-old singer took his first steps into then world of singer-song writing in 2010, with support slots for both William Fitzsimmons and Slow Club. Adam Barnes spent a summer recording a debut E.P entitled ‘Blisters’. What was to follow would project him to the heights of mountainous ranges in the Americas, the depths of lakes in the Alps and obscurities of Supermarkets in Wycombe. With an increasing reputation of allowing any space to become a feasible area for a performance, Adam Barnes endeavours to instil his charmingly presented folk songs to as many people as possible. Having since released his debut album 'The Land, The Sea & Everything Lost Beneath' and recent E.P ' One Day We'll Be Fine', he has accumulated over 3 million plays on Spotify worldwide to date.

With the natural ability to capture the emotional sentiment within a song, to twist and perceive lyrics to compliment his melodies, and give you the opportunity to fall in love with well written music, at such a young age still you wouldn’t be blamed for thinking this man is telling you stories beyond his years.

Lovely Navigator
Adam Barnes Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A budget way of public travelling
Maybe there's a vacancy at NASA with a salary
For singers losing confidence to sing
And I scavenged for fuel for ideal velocity
50 miles up I earned my wings
I built a helmet from an unused fishbowl
I promise that I won't be gone for too long
I just want to feel the loss of gravity
Is there any way to feel this weightless
Without a ticket to Israel
And go and swim in the Dead Sea
So I built a rocket in the garden
And I scheduled the launch for Sunday eve
Experience one beautiful orbit
With the optimism that
I'd still make it home for tea
If all goes well I'll be the first of many
Pioneers of DIY astronomy
Adventurers of the great beyond
I can hear the slogan in the song
The sky's no limit for me
I think I need to build a bigger rocket
One with a second seat right next to me
You can be my lovely navigator
And I can offer you the world for free
In the lyrics of "Lovely Navigator," Adam Barnes talks about his desire to leave Earth and explore the universe. He talks about building a rocket in his garden for public traveling, scavenging for fuel for his ideal velocity, and building a helmet from an unused fishbowl for a parachute landing. In the second verse, he expresses his wish to experience weightlessness without having to buy a ticket to Israel and swim in the Dead Sea. He schedules the launch for Sunday evening, promising to be back home for tea. Adam's lyrical interpretation of this song may be that he's discontent with his mundane life and he wants to achieve something extraordinary, explore new terrains, meet new people, solve a mystery, make discoveries, have adventure, and escape from the monotony of everyday life.
In the chorus, he sings that if all goes well, he will be the first of many pioneers of DIY astronomy, adventurers of the great beyond, and that the sky's no limit for him. He then calls for a navigator, inviting someone to join him on this adventure, offering them the world for free. The lyrics of "Lovely Navigator" could possibly be interpreted as a metaphor for someone who doesn't fit into society's mold and wants to escape the rat race.

@GhostShapedSidewalk
Great job on this song. Brings me back to childhood, eager to fly the stars, worlds lived in the mind built within cardboard boxes made into starships. I braved every trauma there but emerged a hero. Only to have been there alone.
