I feel like people carry a bit of the time they were teenagers with them throughout their lives. Whether it be the music, the fashion, the style, even the humour of the time. I can also remember when the ‘alternative’ era was ending. I was pissed. I feel like it was around 99. I was in grade 12. Britney Spears, boy bands, and hip hop took over. Everyone started wearing less flannel and more khakis. Then fashion went downhill from there. I wore doc martens everyday for several years afterward in protest. Lol. It’s almost as if the nineties was a combo of the best of the sixties, seventies and eighties mashed together. Which is what made it so unique and cool.

Same thing, bu with my mom. 5 years ago and everything. When I was Adams bellman at my hotel, a year after my mom passed, I balled my eyes out in the bell closet after. I watched Counting Crowes live at Sun City in South Africa. They were phenomenal. Adam was a really wonderful surprise, so charismatic and a great performer. He engaged so nicely with the audience. I remember them adding a whole new verse to Round Here. It was a moment in time where everyone was transfixed in the moment. No one moved or spoke. It was like that - magical.

It’s weird because I don’t normally think of Counting Crows as one of my top bands, but a couple of their songs hit me so deeply in my core in a way that is so rare. "August and Everything After" was the first CD I ever purchased. Even before Nevermind and before Blood sugar sex magic. I was really impressed by this album, even to this day. Every song on the album tells a story. I still play "Blue Buildings" on my guitar from time to time and while I don't really know how to play the piano, I do know how to play the chords for "Raining in Baltimore". I learned those chords because I love to sing that song. It's good to see Adam on this side. I know he's had a long journey to happiness of self.

I would absolutely love to see Joe interview the staff of the Kevin and Bean show. He’s mentioned how much he liked doing the show, and given the implosion of KROQ in the last 2 years, the long form interview he uses would be a great format to document the decline of radio as a pop culture medium versus the rise of the podcast.

If you cut open my teenage heart you would have found every lyrics from "August and Everything After" tattooed across it. I listened that album damn near nonstop for months. It got me off of Nirvana for quite some time. My grunge friends thought I was going thru something but man, those lyrics just pulled me in.

@Kevin Dube Because when you are looking at an object that has the moon behind it, you see a silhouette. If you put your back to the moon, and look out towards the same object you can see clearly around it.

I think he was trying to find a fancy sexy way to say life isn't black and white. That seemed to be a common theme in the 90s.

I’m 💯 guilty of not sharing music that moves my soul! For example, I had to find someone that would go see Gary Clark Jr. when nobody really knew who he was at the depot in SLC because they loved music and I was giving them the ticket for FREE. Out of the the literally thousands of shows I’ve seen, it is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. When it was over people were outside talking about it as if they felt it was a life changing experience. One person who is famous in his own right for something else ( like me ) I met that went because his friend invited him for free said that he felt like it was like seeing Jimmy Hendrix before he was famous, but better. We’re still friends, and neither of us have been to a better concert since that show in 2013.

Looking back on it all those dudes were pretty good, and the lead singers energy was both positive and contagious. Strange how 27 years changes a person.

I have been a fan for many years and love how Adam adlibs live shows and changes lyrics. I once saw CC at house of blues and Adam was out front, no entourage, no security, no ego, just hanging and chatting with fans. I have a world of respect for artist that grounded and who make time for the fans that contribute to their success. Dude is legit and they are still one one of my favorite bands. Especially live.

This video has me changing my mind about Adam.
I was backstage for a Counting Crows Show in L.A. back after the first Album and after the show at the meet n greet, talking with people and met a couple band members and then Adam walked up to my friend and I, he was holding his drink like it was a precious goblet with both hands and I said hello and introduced myself and my buddy and Adam didn't say hello back he said Oh Okay , and lifted his drink with both hands and drank and walked away. I could really care less that he walked away after only saying OhOkay because I was in the business and know a ton of famous people but the way he held his drink and drank from his cup and how he walked around that room as if he was Jesus himself was really lame. I love the "August" album and his lyrics are incredible, that album was a background music in my life during some big changes in love, work, friends, where I lived and where I moved to to escape the fame and poparrazi in LA to become an unknown new guy in a new city.
This interview shows Adam in a very different way and he seems really cool.

My dad told me once about a counting Crows concert that he went to where Adam Midway through a song just started singing recovering the satellites. The band just had to catch up and run with it. My dad also jokes about when in adams song writing career you could tell when he started taking medication.
