After Hours
Adam Lambert Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Gotta get outside
I gotta get outside of my mind
Before I rip it out
I'm on a drive
I'm on a nightdrive
I gotta take a little trip, get twisted
And ride it out
Always after hours
I'm burning wet lies
Always after hours
Late night, power
I feel it at the wheel
Always after hours
I'm burning bad lies
Always after hours
Late night, power
I feel it at the wheel
I'm on drive
I'm on a nightdrive
I gotta get take a little trip, get twisted
And ride it out
Always after hours
I'm burning wet lies
Always after hours
Late night, power
I feel it at the wheel
Always after hours
I'm burning bad lies
Always after hours
Late night, power
I feel it at the wheel
In the song "After Hours" by Adam Lambert, he sings about feeling trapped within his own mind and needing to get out. He uses the metaphor of taking a drive to escape and clear his head. He wants to get twisted, meaning he wants to lose himself in the moment and forget about his worries. Lambert feels a rush of power at night when he's behind the wheel, which allows him to be reckless and let loose. The chorus emphasizes the idea of him always feeling this way, always burning with lies and power after hours.
The song is relatable to anyone who has ever felt trapped in their own thoughts or stressed by their daily life or responsibilities. Lambert's use of intense, passionate language conveys the desperation and excitement he feels when trying to escape. It's a reminder that sometimes we need to step outside of ourselves and experience life in a different way to renew our spirit and sense of self.
