Lopez was the second of three boys, born to Spanish immigrants Manuel Jesus Lopez Perez and Maria Del Rosario Costa Velasco. Both of his parents were musicians. Having started singing at the age of three, Lopez was a polished soprano by age ten. After finishing high school, Lopez studied voice at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music at Griffith University in Australia. He spent five years there developing his male coloratura, though he spent a total of 10 years developing his distinctive vocal abilities.
In addition to solo work, Lopez has worked as a session vocalist, singing backing vocals for Mariah Carey, Debelah Morgan, Keith Urban, Vanessa Amorosi, and other Australian artists. He has also worked in television and radio.
Lopez currently teaches voice at Sheldon College and is promoting his most recent album, Popera. He is also working on a new age album in the vein of Yma Sumac.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Lopez holds the world record for highest vocal note produced by a male. That pitch is designated C#8 in note-octave notation; it is one half step above the highest note on a standard grand piano or 4435 Hz. Before achieving this record, Lopez held the previous Guinness World Record for singing a D7 in 2003. He broke his own record in June 2005.
Although he is most noted for this record, it is said that Lopez's voice is rangier than the grand staff in both directions. He is said to have the ability to pitch a A#1, one and one-half steps below Deep C. His tessitura, however, lies in the tenor range.
Till the End of Time

Born to sing and dance it baby
Till the end of time
You know that rumba is my passion baby
The rhythm blows my mind
Till the end of time, till the end of time
Cos I was born to sing and dance it baby
Cos I was born to sing and dance it baby
Till the end of time
Can you feel the rhythm's taking over
Your body starts to move without control
Let yourself go
Let your body do its thing
And then you'll know just what I mean
Now that you are letting yourself feel it
Your body, mind and soul will harmonise
Set yourself free
Let your body do its thing
And then you'll know just what I mean
If you start to sing with me
Then you will realise
Can you feel it getting stronger
Cos I know when you start you can't sit down
Till the end of time
Till the end of time, till the end of time
Till the end of time
Can you feel it getting stronger now
Till the end of time
The lyrics in Adam Lopez's "Till the End of Time" are all about the power of music and dance to connect people and transport them to a higher plane of existence. The singer and narrator of the song seems to be addressing the listener directly, urging them to let go of their inhibitions and let the rhythm take over. The repeated refrain of "Till the end of time" is a reminder that this feeling of ecstasy and liberation is not fleeting, but something that can be sustained indefinitely through music and dance.
The singer also touches on the idea that some people are simply born with a natural inclination towards music and dance, using the phrase "Cos I was born to sing and dance it baby" as a testament to his own passion and dedication. He describes the rumba as his "passion baby" and notes that the rhythm "blows [his] mind." By doing so, he creates a sense of camaraderie with the listener, inviting them to join him in this shared experience of joy and abandon.
Throughout the song, there is a sense of urgency and excitement as the singer encourages the listener to fully embrace the rhythm and let it guide them. He notes that once the music takes hold, "Your body starts to move without control / Let yourself go / Let your body do its thing." This sense of abandon is further emphasized when he adds, "If you start to sing with me / Then you will realize / Can you feel it getting stronger / Cos I know when you start you can't sit down / Till the end of time." The idea that the music is so powerful that it compels people to keep moving and singing indefinitely is a powerful one, and it underscores the transformative power of music and dance.

I played with Adam and James Morrison in their concert in Townsville last Saturday. I was one of the cellists in the orchestra. It was great fun, one of the best concerts I've ever been involved with. Adam's a really nice guy, too, I was chatting with him during one of the breaks. He deserves to go as far as he wants to go.
