Holidays
Adam Weaver and the Ghosts Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'll take a small black
With a smile please
I could use that
I've been cooped up far too long
I've got to get away
You've been cooped up far too long
You've got to get away
We'll get away
I wanna take you on a
holiday, holiday, holiday, holiday
Let's get together and go
Far away, far away, far away, far away
I wanna take you on a
Holiday, holiday, holiday, holiday
But it's here that we'll stay
I'm not asking for too much
I don't think
Just milk and sugar
To put up in this drink
I've been cooped up far too long
I've got to get away
You've been cooped up far too long
You've got to get away
We'll get away
We'll get away
We'll get away
We'll get away
I wanna take you on a
Holiday, holiday, holiday, holiday
Let's get together and go
Far away, far away, far away, far away
I wanna take you on a
Holiday, holiday, holiday, holiday
But it's here that we'll stay
The lyrics of Adam Weaver and the Ghosts' song "Holidays" seem to be about the singer's imaginary friends that he never made but they exist at other places or ends. The singer wishes to be like them and ride the perfect wave. He hears the words these imaginary friends never say but they still feel like a holiday to him. The singer also sings about his ordinary friends that he meets every day but he's not quite like them, and they are not the same as the imaginary friends that never came into existence. He still listens to what they say and even that feels like a holiday to him.
The song's meaning is about how the imagination of mind can create a world of one's own and how it can feel like a vacation or holiday from the real world. The song's melody is uplifting and cheerful, depicting the positive side of the singer's imagination. The lyrics also convey that even in the mundane and ordinary, one can find joy and pleasure if they look deeper.

Imaginary friends
The friends we never had
The ones I never made
The ones we didn't have a chance to make
Exist at other ends
Are present in another place, in our mind
And I'll be just like them
We want to be like them
I'll ride the perfect wave
We'll enjoy the perfect moment
The words they'll never say
Things that our friends never told us
I hear them anyway
We still hear their voices, even if they're not with us
Just like a holiday
It feels like a special occasion
It's just like a holiday so far away
It feels like it's distant and unreachable
It's just like a holiday the perfect day
It's the ideal day, like a dream
The ordinary ones
The friends we have in our daily life
The ones from day to day
The ones we see and interact with frequently
I guess I'd call them friends
I consider them friends, but they're not quite the same
But I'm not quite like them
We're different than our friends in some way
And they're not quite the same
Our friends are different from what we imagine our ideal friends to be
As those who never came
As the imaginary friends that never existed

When I was engaged to my ex, he kept telling me he wanted to have his ex at our wedding. I never thought much of it at first. However, he kept telling me multiple times that he wanted her to see what she missed out on. It started becoming abundantly clear that he was still in love with her and, extremely bitter the she moved on. Even after I told him, it makes me uncomfortable, he still insisted and, was even offering to help pay for her trip. I'm pretty sure he was trying to pull some shady stuff. Best thing to do in situations where something feel wrong, is to walk away and never look back. I am now happily married to my best friend and, I am glad I moved on instead if settling.

13 seconds into the video and let me guess: I'm not gonna see the actual footage, am I?

That's why I quit watching stuff like that. A few times I sat through like 7 minutes of their whole life story only to realize I'm not going to see or hear anything CLOSE to this title. I always say "never again" but now I catch on ALOT faster lol
@Evans-io3ed
Just time I’ll never get back after another silly titled video

Ugh. I was looking for this comment. I just researched the names and there's no video. Just some reddit post from this chick. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not.
New rule: no one can tell a juicy story from now on unless you have video proof. Witnesses aren't good enough for us. Especially on YouTube. F this channel.
