"You wanted the best and you got it, the hottest band in the land . . . Adam West!"
If you recognize where that line is from, then you know what time it is. Adam West is a rock-n-roll band, period. Take Iggy & the Stooges, Black Sabbath, The Misfits, The MC5, KISS, AC/DC, and mix in the best 60s garage punk and you've got Adam West. Can ya dig it? In their hometown of Washington, DC, Adam West has won six Wammie Awards for Best Hard Rock Group and Best Hard Rock Vocalist from the Washington Area Music Association!
Adam West is currently working on a new album due for release in Spring 2008. A full six-week tour of Europe is planned for Summer 2008.
Their third compilation volume of non-album tracks from the archives was released in July 2006 on People Like You Records: "Longshot Songs for Broke Players 2001-2004". This 24-track CD and LP includes songs culled from singles (A & B 's), rarities, compilations, unreleased tunes, etc. Adam West followed up the release of this album with their seventh tour of Europe in October/November 2006.
Adam West signed with German record label People Like You Records in 2001 and since have released the following full-length albums: "Power to the People" (2005), "Hi-Balls Are Rolling! 1999-2001" (2004), "God's Gift to Women" (2003), "Ready Steady Adam West! 1993-1999" (2002), and "Right On!" (2001). "Right On!" was also released in 2002 in the USA on The Telegraph Company record label and in Japan on Myrmecoleo Records.
Adam West was formed in the early 1990s, when singer Jake Starr decided to form a 60s garage band. Adam West started gigging around Washington, D.C. and soon built up a local following. Jake immediately started his own label, Fandango Records, and started recording and releasing Adam West material. Their first single in 1993 "I Get a Sensation" was a rave-up garage slice and got Adam West international attention. As of the beginning of 2006, Adam West has released circa 30 7-inch singles, one 10-inch EP, eight CDs, and has made over 35 high-profile appearances on various compilation CDs.
Through all this recording and mayhem, Adam West has toured the USA and Europe many times. They have rocked with some of the best bands in the genre: Hellacopters, Gaza Strippers, BellRays, Zen Guerilla, Electric Frankenstein, Candy Snatchers, B-Movie Rats, American Heartbreak, Groovie Ghoulies, Immortal Lee County Killers, Iron Boss, D-Generation, Mud City Manglers, Silver Tongued Devil, Muffs, to name a handful. Done Me Wrong
Adam West Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
is i'm left with nothing
and why do i look
like i stepped in something?
i feel like a victim of conscription
5, 4, 3, 2, 1, ignition
blast off
you done me wrong
i should have seen
you comin' on
right from the start
you done me wrong
and i never should have stayed
i should have split
i should have gone
yeah i never should have stayed
The lyrics to Adam West's song "Done Me Wrong" portray a troubled relationship filled with betrayal and regret. The singer expresses feeling like a victim of conscription, forced into something without their consent, and left with nothing but the remnants of the relationship. Their appearance suffers parallel to their emotions, as they feel like they "stepped in something." The countdown to ignition amplifies the sense of explosive energy surrounding the situation, with the singer feeling as though they're about to launch out of this toxic relationship toward something better.
The chorus repeats, reinforcing the betrayal felt by the singer. They claim they should have seen the signs of their partner's betrayal and left them earlier. Hindsight is always 20/20, and they acknowledge the mistake of staying too long in a harmful relationship. The repetition of "I never should have stayed" emphasizes that the singer recognizes the earlier opportunities to leave and feels foolish for not taking them.
Overall, the lyrics portray the raw emotions of someone who has been hurt and betrayed by a partner. The explosive energy evoked in the countdown and blast-off imagery creates a sense of catharsis as the singer seeks to launch themselves away from their troubles and towards a brighter future.
