1) Ado (born October 24, 2002 in Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese singer and Utaite and is often considered to be one of the most promising and popular young singers in Japan. In 2020, at the age of 17, she made her debut with the digital single titled Usseewa. The song peaked at number 1 on Billboard Japan Hot 100, Oricon Digital Singles Chart, Oricon Streaming Chart, and Spotify Viral 50 Japan. The music video of the song on her YouTube channel reached 100 million views in 148 days after its release. Reaching 100 million plays on Billboard Japan after 17 weeks from charting-in was the sixth fastest in history and the youngest for a solo singer.
Despite the popularity of her debut song and singles shortly after it, she has always remained anonymous in public and still to this day, her face is still mostly unknown. She has been an Utaite (mostly anonymous cover artists) and a fan of Hatsune Miku and other Vocaloids throughout her life which could be assumed to be a reason why alongside simple privacy reasons.
2022 is regarded as a very significant year in her career. She released her first two Albums: Kyogen (January 2022) and the album dedicated to One Piece: Film Red (August 2022 / More info down below), getting to create two theme songs for the Live Action Movie, "Karada Sagashi" as well as having live performances and other collaborations and events throughout the year.
In the Summer of 2022, She played a major role in the movie One Piece: Film Red for the very popular anime series One Piece as she released an album dedicated to the movie. The Album was a big success and appeared everywhere on domestic musical charts and broke numerous records throughout the process. Notably, every song in the album all individually placed very highly on every Japanese musical chart including Spotify, Billboard and Apple Music. the very latter of which saw her have seven songs take up the top seven spots on August 14th. Impressively, she is the only Japanese Artist in history to occupy all the top 5 spots on a musical chart with songs from the same album.
In 2023, Ado continued releasing singles, released her third album as well as the announcement of her first world tour. Notable singles this year include "Show" and "Kura Kura". The former quickly solidifying itself as one of her most popular songs with the latter being used as the opening song for the anime "Spy x Family", becoming her first TV anime opening.
Her third album, "Ado's Utattemita Album" was released in December of 2023 which is a cover album featuring various Vocaloid and J-pop songs, which fans voted on for her to cover.

In fact, he was the first African-Canadian to found an African musical group there. Although he admitted that it's challenging to live as an artist in Canada, he had won support across the country, mostly from African music lovers seeking another opportunity to put on their dancing shoes.
Despite social, political and economic difficulties in the Democratic Republic of Congo, dance and celebration are central to emotional expression. Thus, it comes as no surprise that Ado knew how to enjoy life and that his music is a reflection of it. The hip-swinging rhythms and electrifying guitar of African rumba and Soukous define his classic Congolese style.

歌詞から感じたこと↓(長文注意)
まず「マザーランド」って名前から凄くくるものがあります。母親の国…距離的に法律的に縁を切れても精神的には逃げれることは出来ない

主人公は母親が全てではないと気づいてしまい、それを懺悔してる
はなから愛されないと知れるなら楽だったんだ そんな後ろを向いた私はちゃんと地獄に堕ちましたか
すでに終わりを考えている。天国か地獄か、もし二択があるのなら言われなくても地獄を選べよと。例えエゴだとしても愛してくれた存在を裏切ったのだから

途中のケーキを一切れで祝うシーンは、主人公がやっと母親からの洗脳に気づいたというのに偶然にたまたま優しくなるところが毒親ぽさを感じました
心の中にいる母親が母親自身ではなく自分が作り上げた母親の意思を間に受けた化け物。その化け物を振り払うことは出来ない。それは力が強いこともあるし、今まで見守ってくれたから。
主人公は母親からの洗脳じみた思想を受け入れて一緒に進むことを決心したんだと思います。
小さい頃から刻まれた価値観は生きていく上での物差しになるから消すことは出来ない。でも鵜呑みにしなくていい。
この母子の複雑な感じをアドさんが力強く歌ってるのが最高です。

I would like to share some thoughts:
In my interpretation, the entire music video is about this ‘player’ named Dominic (as confirmed by Yasutatsu) who escapes from ‘Mother’ (the cat) and wanders around Motherland until they are caught and killed in the middle of the video. Eventually the cat celebrates their ‘game over’ through cake and then they console a vine effigy of themselves from the mirror.
Unlike previous Yasutatsu works, this one is incredibly vague, so there isn’t much content to clearly interpret from it. Though mine was a very literal interpretation, I’d like to share some particular details about the video/characters I think were interesting—since I tend to dig into things outside YouTube when it involves Yasutatsu’s works haha ^^
1.) Dominic (the character, which I’ll be referring to with they/them pronouns) is a particularly masculine name. Whether Yasutatsu intends to imply something or not is unknown, but this is too significant to ignore…
2. Dominic is always treated more like a pet compared to the other animal-like characters. In the beginning, you can see a wolf-like creature holding a fork. Not only that, during the mirror scene near the end, the cake is place on a pet bowl with the name ‘Dom’ written on it.
The main character’s pupils are also similar to prey such as goats. It makes a lot of sense given how the song repeats “Love to the inferior” throughout the song and how they are treated as inferior compared to the other non-human characters.
3.) In one of Ado’s tweets, she refers to liking the Alice-inspired designs within it, which further confirms that it is one of its inspirations. (well, it was pretty on the nose with the title too lol)
Looking at other Japanese comments, some have also realized it’s similarities to other pieces of work such as “The Restaurant of Many Orders”—especially when the cat’s eye’s were the only thing we could see right before the stabbing of the character alongside one of the lyrics in the song. Another one is “Night on the Galactic Railroad” which some believe to reference some of the lyrics (“Will I go to heaven”) and the entire train scene, though I haven’t read it much aside from the summary, it’s a neat reference
4.) The video and the character sheet contain several references to video games such as the Achievement “happy?cake” when Dom receives the cake and “welcome to motherland” on the character sheet.
5.) there is another version of Dom that we never get to see in the video—a long haired, older Dom with a pretty fancy dress which can be found on the artists’ twitter. I don’t know any particular reason why, but I’m guessing this is a what-if scenario if Dom didn’t die earlier.
6.) The thorns on Dom’s hand changes for a second, turning into a root instead… it seems very significant but I just can’t pinpoint why… perhaps it’s their regret festering as the vine on their hand just appeared right after defending themselves from the cat..
I’d like to hear someone else make a more thorough theory though, I’m not very skilled in that but I do tend to look into things a lot. If this helps theory crafters in a way that’d be really nice

i disagree that it's a game, i think rather than a literal interpretation, it's more symbolic of a poor mother-child relationship. the cat (mother) treats dom like a pet and dom is unhappy, running away from home. they end up in the "outside" world which feels like a wonderland from how different it is to the house.
however the vine growing on dom's hand is a reminder of familial connection- they still long for a mother even if they aren't happy. it starts out as nostalgia, a smooth benign vine they slice off, that returns (possibly intensified after hearing one of the guests cry about their own family) and becomes thorny as the longing grows stronger and dom returns home- most likely punished before being rewarded with a cake saying 'game over', it's a tactic that abusers tend to use when their victims return, mocking them for trying to get away in the first place.
the lyric goes "isn't this heaven?" as dom looks at the cake (reward), but you can see 3:10 shows depictions of the past dom (note the hair is short) and the present dom (hair is cut) who remembers that being with the cat was not happiness, although it fills their longing, and the lyric changes "this isn't heaven"
seeing as in the end, dom has long hair as they embrace their vine counterpart, they are free from the mother- actually, to go a stretch further, i like to think the vine counterpart is their future child (vines=family, resembles dom but isn't fully conceptualized) in which dom is declaring that even without a "motherland" dom is going to fill that role, although it's equally empowering to think dom is declaring that to themself. to me, the vine effigy of the cat towering over them looks like it's representing the family tree.
i think your interpretation is heartbreaking whereas i saw this video as a story of how a child found their own independence and hope for the future. dom is a very strong character and i think it's a story many troubled children can resonate with.
