Perfect

Yonah

Shed no tears for me
There'll be rain enough today
I'm wishing you Godspeed
As I wave you on your way

This won't be the first time I've stayed to face
The bitter consequences of ancient fall from grace
I'm a daughter of the race of Cain
I am not stranger to the rain

And for the boy who's given me the sweetest love I know
I wish for you another love so you won't be alone
Because I am bound to walk among the wounded and the slain
And when the storm comes crashing on the plain
I will dance before the lightning to music sacred and profane

Oh, shed no tears
Light no candle for my sake
This journey I'll making now
Is one we all must take

Shoulder to the wind
I'll turn my face into the spray
And when the heavens open
Let the drops fall where they may

May they finally wash away the stain

Of a daughter of the race of Cain
I am not a stranger to the rain, let it rain

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Perfect" by William Solo are deeply introspective, with the singer addressing their loved ones as they depart on a journey. The first verse sets the tone, with the singer asking their friends and family not to mourn their departure. Instead, they invite them to wish them well and to trust that their journey will be fulfilling.

In the second verse, the singer reflects on their past experiences of facing the consequences of a "fall from grace". They identify themselves as a "daughter of the race of Cain", a reference to the biblical story of Cain and Abel, in which Cain kills his brother Abel and is marked with a curse. Despite this, the singer declares that they are "not a stranger to the rain", meaning that they are not unfamiliar with hardship or suffering.

The final verse is addressed to a specific person, "the boy who's given me the sweetest love I know". The singer expresses their desire for this person to find another love so that they won't be alone. They then declare that they are "bound to walk among the wounded and the slain", suggesting that their journey is not just a physical one but a spiritual and emotional one too. They finally embrace their fate, declaring that they are not afraid to face the storm and dance in the rain.

Overall, "Perfect" by William Solo is a powerful and emotional song that speaks to the human experience of loss, love, and acceptance. The lyrics are rich with symbolism and meaning, inviting listeners to reflect on their own journeys and what it means to face the challenges of life.

@Joy-dx8ej

Her mom is Judy Garland so no wonder

@AWF1000

@@Joy-dx8ej yeah. I recently just found that out myself. I was shocked she's the daughter of Judy Garland

@Joy-dx8ej

@@AWF1000 which means her sister is Liza Minnelli

@hkhilner

Lorna Luft was 30 years old when this movie was released. Most of the cast were far too old to be convincing as teenagers.

@angiedawnmoody3519

Her real life Mother is Judy Garland and her Sister is Lisa Minelli,so it doesn't surprise me

@FACEBOOK6250

This film is so underrated, I love this film. Long live the 80's. 80's rocked with Fantastic music.

@scombs6543

Fr, people hate on it because it doesn't have the cast from the original. They graduated high school, they cant go back for another year.
I really love this movie just as much as the first. The characters, the music, and that they tried to do something different than Grease, in which they succeeded.

@@scombs6543 yeah....

@retro_butterflyy1669

But the first one was such a classic, I don’t hate on this but the original was definitely better 👌
