When she was a freshman in college she befriended the aspiring rapper Dred Scott. This chance encounter led her to a collaboration on his 1994 A&M records release "Breaking Combs". Just one year later she and Dred wrote and recorded her debut self titled album on Capitol. A political shake up at Capitol landed Adriana and the record on RCA/Loud Records. The album was thought to be somewhat revolutionary. It was the first so called "Neo Soul record" at the time. The use of live instrumentation combined with the classic sound of Adriana's vocals took a lot of people off guard. When you think about the musical landscape in 1995, you understand that this album was extremely groundbreaking. It was completely devoid of the synthetic mechanical sounds and stacked vocal stylings of music from that era.
After the release of her first album she became disenchanted with the politics of music. She travelled the world finding an unlimited source of creative inspiration. She spent much of her time in Latin America feeling at home in the relaxed musically enriched environment. Brazil became a home away from home for her spiritually and musically. Upon her return to the US she began assembling her second record "Nomadic". This was a project that she and long-time collaborator "Dred Scott" really enjoyed. It is an eclectic reflection of her musical journey. "Nomadic" incorporates the sounds of Latin, rock, soul, jazz, blues and hip hop. It reflects the variety of manifestations of black music in the Americas. She states, "Africans came to North America, South America and the Caribbean via the slave trade and through some sort of alchemy turned pain into beauty. They gave the world their music!" "Nomadic" honors their remarkable contributions.
Her new CD, "El Camino" blends the familiar sounds of her first recording with the growth of her second CD. The musical emphasis of this work is based more on the soul tradition yet it still has eclectic elements that reflect Adriana's unique perspective. The title "El Camino" means the road or path in Spanish.

No way no way no way no way
So long
Baby when you hold me in your arms, Wondering how I seem so far away.
I realized that you don't know the cost,
Of a broken heart but there's a price to pay.
That girl you use to know.
It's not the woman that you see.
But I'd like to know did she seem so naïve,
That you would think her love would be
Waiting there for you
So long
Waiting there for you baby (no way, no way no Way No way) so long.
Waiting there for you honey (no way no way no Way no way) so long.
Waiting there for you baby (no way no way no Way no way) so long.
Such a shame to have to watch you lie
And you know I and still you play the game.
It's a one way conversation now when it
Seems that all your words just sound the Same.
So don't waste your time, like you've been Wasting mines.
You can't afford to make believe. If you have Others,
Give them a call tonight, and maybe one of them will be,
Waiting there for you baby
So long (no way no way no way no way)
Waiting there for you honey (no way no way no Way no way) so long.
Waiting there for you darlin'(no way no way no Way no way) so long.
Waiting there for you honey (no way no way no Way no way) so long.
Waiting there for you (no way no way no way No way) so long.
I've waited there for you (no way no way no Way no way) so long.
The song "Waiting" by Adriana Evans is about a woman who has been waiting for her significant other to change and become the person she needs him to be. The song begins by stating "So long", which can be interpreted as the woman finally deciding to let go of this person, who has not shown any signs of improvement despite her waiting for a long time. The lyrics "Baby when you hold me in your arms, wondering how I seem so far away" indicates that even when the man is physically present, the woman feels alone and distant from him. She has come to realize that he does not understand the toll a broken heart takes on a person and that it comes with a price to pay.
The chorus "Waiting there for you, so long" repeats several times throughout the song, and it's clear that this woman has been waiting for her significant other to change for the better, but he has only continued to disappoint her. She sings, "Such a shame to have to watch you lie, and you know I, and still you play the game." The woman has been watching this man deceive her repeatedly, and it's become a one-way conversation, with no improvement from his part.
The song ultimately conveys the message that it's time to move on from someone who doesn't value you enough. It's a realization that the person you're waiting for isn't worth the wait, and there's someone out there who will treat you better.

She is just pure class!!!!!! She is just too good! It's almost like the music industry is afraid of artists and music like this. Her vocals are so full and rich. She sounds like a cross between Chante Moore and Diana Ross, FLAWLESS!
