Even if I never met you
Even if I'd left my house
Three minutes too soon
Cause I think we have a chance here
Think I'm gonna wait it out, dear
Cause you're something I can put
Chorus:
So burn me up tonight
Make a fool out of the sunlight
And baby, don't you go, go, go
The fire in my chest
Will not let me rest
It's moving fast
And burning slow
Will you ever know
Forgetting what we fight for
We love and then we fight more
But it's just us in this room
Four walls, no doors
Everyone I know can see this
They tell us to get out quick
But I've got a feeling
That you might be it
Chorus
So burn me up tonight
Make a fool out of the sunlight
And baby, don't you go, go, go
The fire in my chest
Will not let me rest
It's moving fast
And burning slow
Will you ever know
Will you ever know
Burn me up
Burn me up
Will you ever know
Will you ever know
Burn me up slow
In Adrianne's song Avalanche, the lyrics suggest the singer is conflicted about her feelings towards a romantic interest who she has not even met yet. The opening lines "I think that I would miss you, even if I never met you" express a deep longing for a connection with someone. This sentiment is juxtaposed with the idea that missing someone is a possibility even when they are not yet present in one's life as the lyrics state, "Even if I'd left my house three minutes too soon".
The singer notes that there is a chance for a deep emotional connection, but she is unsure whether it's worth pursuing or waiting it out. She conveys this idea through the lyrics, "Think I'm gonna wait it out, dear, cause you're something I can put my heart into". The chorus further reinforces her desire for this connection, as she wants to be consumed by the passion and intensity of these feelings. She implores to "burn me up tonight, make a fool out of the sunlight" as if to say she wants to forget everything else around her and just feel the flame of her love.
The second verse of the song talks about how fighting and making up is a familiar pattern in their relationship but the singer has a feeling that this person might be the one she's been waiting for. The singer's emotions are so intense that others around her are starting to take notice, warning her to get out quick from a potentially explosive relationship. However, the singer seems to hint that she is willing to take the risk regardless of the advice she's receiving. The lyrics "Will you ever know, will you ever know" are sung repeatedly, indicating her uncertainty if the subject of her affections will ever understand her true feelings.
