Go
Aer Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Don't need your good advice
Your bad-ass pose
Your tons of contacts
Your control
I gotta go

Don't need your record deal
Your line of coke
Your fancy friends
And your support
I gotta go

Hey hey hey, we're not that dumb, we can do it ourselves,
We're doomed to fail, don't need your help
Hey hey hey, we don't have to sell our soul

To a wanna-be-satan and his court
We're all losers, don't you know?

Don't need your friendly contracts
Your fake love
Your coloured vinyl
Your comfort
I gotta go

Don't want your good advice
Your line of coke
Your fancy friends

And your control
I gotta go

Overall Meaning

The song "Go" by Aer is a declaration of independence and a rejection of the mainstream music industry. The lyrics make it clear that the singer will not rely on the approval or support of others to pursue their dreams. They do not want a record deal, friendly contracts, or even good advice. They reject the idea of selling their soul to an industry that they perceive to be controlled by satanic figures. They even reject the idea of comfort and fake love. The song emphasizes the importance of self-reliance and rejects the need for external validation.

The song can be interpreted as a critique of the music industry and its impact on artists. The lyrics suggest that the industry values style over substance and prioritizes profit over artistic expression. The singer rejects the idea of compromising their values and artistic integrity for the sake of success. The song encourages listeners to value their own vision and not to conform to industry standards.

I have this bag and I love it. I do use it as a packable bag inside my Minaal Carry On (which is what I originally bought it for), but it's so comfy I actually now regularly use it as a day bag or weekend bag.

Even though this bag is very light and doesn't have much structure empty, it's made with great quality materials. I also love the little touches like the internal open pockets (NOT elasticated like they say in this review), these pockets enable you to carry beer cans, glass bottles or other stand up items with ease if you do some shopping with the bag.

The bag is also great for carrying your daily tech too if you plan to travel or work in coffee shops. One thing that I think is essential though - get a soft case for your laptop if you plan to regularly carry it in this, because as the review says, there is no support. However - I use the Bellroy cushioned laptop sleeve with this and it works wonderfully, fully protecting my laptop, while also adding more structure to the bag and making it even comfier to carry.

If you use this as a day bag and have a few different peripherals (mouse, power bank, cables, headphones) then you can definitely get away with storing them in the internal open or zip compartments, but you may also benefit from getting a tech kit too.

I use this for so much more than a packable bag now, because it's light, comfy to carry and is intelligently designed for a range of uses.

The criticism about the difficulty in accessing the zipper pulls when they are inside the water bottle pocket is actually a safety feature if you look at it positively. Nobody else can open your backpack during commute or walking about either.

The more I use this bag, the more I love it.. it has quickly become my daily bag and it has accompanied me on a few long trips, incl as my single bag for a long weekend trip. And despite all the use, including several rain storms, dust,.. it still looks as good as new. The material is great and be very interested to see Aer use it for some of their larger travel bags. It looks very unassuming and discrete wich also helps in travel. The two water bottle holders are great and add flexibility as does the front pocket. I did personalise it a bit, added a sternum strap (esp handy whan cycling), and i also added an inflatable back panel (recycled from another bag) it helps to avoid the issue you flagged with carrying a laptop and makes the bag stand up a bit easier (although it has to be said - it keeps its shape rather well. The internal organisation is dope. What i would like to see in 2.0: lockable zippers, a sternum strap, a key strap (either in the front pocket or even inside a water bottle holder, an air tag pocket. All the rest is nailed. All in all cannot recommend it enough - this is so much more than a packable bagā€¦ and it does not break the bank for a great piece of kit.
I also have the small sling of the same series - very nig sling, it would however be nice to have a removable strap and to have it fit the small zippered front pocket as a pouchā€¦

I think if people are looking at this and intend on using it more than simply a pack flat type supplemental bag, they may want to look at the Away FAR backpack 26L. I got one when it was on deep sale and I was surprised at how light, extremely light it is. The advantage of that bag is it does have a lot of padding in the back and straps, so its lightweight but fairly comfy under a big load, also it has some structure so its not so floppy. But it does pack fairly flat as (compared to a heavier bag).

I added a comment so I'll just backup your comments. Wouldn't recommend this after purchasing it. Flawed design with the Zip and harness system. Top quick access pocket Zip is left handed...opening right to left not left to right..weird ergonomic fail. The major issue is the harness and back panel. Aer have put all the foam padding into the harness straps and none into the back panel, the opposite of what you should do. The back panel is literally a piece of material so you can feel everything on your back, putting the foam into the back panel would not have altered the pack-ability of this at all, I have other much better designed packable day packs like the Farpoint day pack from Osprey, compresses to same size when flattened out but they put the foam padding into the back panel and a little on the straps, super comfortable. The thickness of the straps is equal to something youā€™d find on a much larger pack, completely unnecessary, and they donā€™t sit on the shoulders very well. Internal design, build and materials are great but a backpack needs to be worn and to be comfortable which this isn't really. Used an old neoprene laptop sleeve and bought EVA 12mm foam that I placed it inside it, $10 fix, then put this in the ā€œlaptop compartmentā€ to use as a back panel, such a huge difference to its usability and comfort. It also adds structure to the bag which makes it feel more comfortable in general. For a bag of this price itā€™s such a poorly designed harness system. With this simple modification it would be a great 20l pack, use a right handed zipper and padded back panel. What a flawed pack, canā€™t believe this basic stuff isnā€™t being mentioned by youtube channels and reviews. I got sucked in by the youtube spruikers..lesson learned. stick to tried and tested backpack brands that are half the price.

Thank you for reviewing this bag. Youā€™ve approached it as an commuter EDC, and it seems it could be used that way, but packable bags are primarily designed as day bags for one-bag travelers. How well do you think it would function in that use case? Compared to bags from Matador, for example, this bag is heavier and takes up more space inside a travel pack, but it promises far more comfort and ease of use day-to-day at your destination.

@PackHacker2

We covered it briefly in the written review, but after seeing a few YouTube comments mentioning it, weā€™ve added a more comprehensive section talking about it. Check it out here: https://packhacker.com/travel-gear/aer/go-pack-2/

@MrPinpoint007

Yea, Iā€™d like to see a comparison to the matador collapsible backpack.

Great review as always! Thanks for uploading! But I wish you'd shown us what it'd look like when you fit it inside Aer Travel Pack 3 or other Aer bags. Apparently that's what Aer wants us to do.
