Walk This Way
Aerosmith(에어로스미스) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Backstroke lover always hidin' 'neath the cover
'Till I talked to my daddy he say
He said, you ain't seen noting
'Till you're down on a muffin
Then you're sure to be a-changin' your ways

I met a cheerleader, was a real young bleeder
All the times I can reminisce
Ah the best thing lovin' with her sister and her cousin
Started with a little kiss, like this

See-saw swingin' with the boys in the school
With your feet flyin' up in the air
Singin' hey diddle-diddle with the kitty in the middle
You be swingin' like you just didn't care

So I took a big chance at the high school dance
With a missy who was ready to play
Was it me she was foolin'?
'Cause she knew what she was doin'
Taught me how to walk this way
She told me to

Walk this way, walk this way
Walk this way, walk this way
Walk this way, walk this way
Walk this way, walk this way
Ah, just give me a kiss

Like this
School girl sadie with the classy kinda sassy
Little skirt climbing way up her knees
There was three young ladies in the school gym locker
When I noticed they was lookin' at me

I was a high school loser, never made it with a lady
Till the boys told me something I missed
Then my next door neighbour with a daughter had a favour
Took me just a little kiss, like this

See-saw swingin' with the boys in the school
With your feet flyin' up in the air
Singin' hey diddle-diddle with the kitty in the middle
You be swingin' like you just didn't care

So I took a big chance at the high school dance
With a missy who was ready to play
Was it me she was foolin'?
'Cause she knew what she was doin'
Told me how to walk this way
She told me to

Walk this way, walk this way
Walk this way, walk this way
Walk this way, walk this way
Walk this way, talk this way

Just give me a kiss

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Aerosmith and Run D.M.C.'s song Walk This Way speak about teenage experiences of love, lust, sexual exploration and fitting in with your peers. The song begins with the singer confessing he has been hiding his desires and passions beneath the covers, indicating a sense of shame and embarrassment in his desires. However, after talking with his dad, he realizes he has not experienced anything significant yet, and there is a whole world out there he has yet to discover.

The singer then recounts his experiences with several women who have awakened his desires and taught him how to "walk this way" or have a different outlook on life. One woman helps him understand what it means to "swing" with the boys and how to let go and stop caring about what others think. The chorus encourages the idea of walking this way as a means of releasing your inhibitions, and just going for what you want. The lyrics are accompanied by an upbeat and catchy melody, making it a crowd favorite to this day.

@qcislander

My parents weren't into the music we played in the basement (especially the volume, I suppose), but they mostly either ignored it or just went elsewhere because we had a project going that they weren't going to interfere with.

The very first such noise-in-the-community threat was in 1973, when the guy across the street (Peter Carter, are you OUT THERE and still ALIVE for me to sneer at?) called the police (a basement is a shitty place to practice and rehearse on a warm and sunny summer day) because we were practicing in the back yard instead.... also way over 40 years ago.

So, are we a club that should welcome members to be absolved and "truly saved in the name of all that loud musicians should consider holy"?

Or is even that too sacrilegious for most of... ummm... all that? Come to think of it, "all that" is exactly what's feared (thus hated) by...

... well, YOU decide who hates all that. That's not my call to make for you or only anyone else: only for me.

Here is some lyrics if you want:
Now there's a backseat, lover
That's always undercover
And I talk 'til my daddy say
Said you ain't seen, nothin'
Til you're down on the muffin
And there's sure to be a change in ways
Now there's a cheer, leader
That's a real big, pleaser
As far as I can reminisce
But the best thing, love it
Was her sister and her, cousin
And it started with a little kiss, like this
She starts, swingin'
With the boys in, tune
And her feet just fly up in the air
Singin' hey diddle diddle with a kitty in the middle
And they swingin' like it just don't care
So I took a big, chance
At the high school, dance
With a lady who was ready to play
It wasn't me she was, foolin
'Cause she knew what was she was, doin'
When she told me how to walk this way
She told me to
Walk this way!
Talk this way!
Walk this way!
Talk this way!
She told me to
Walk this way!
Talk this way!
Walk this way!
Talk this way!
Well just gimme a kiss!
Ooh, a-like this!
School girl, sleazy
With a, classy kind of sassy
Little skirt hangin' way up her knee
There were three young ladies
In the school gym, locker
And they find they were lookin' D
I was high school, loser
Never made it with a, lady
Til a boy told me somethin' I missed
That my next door, neighbor
Had a daughter, had a favor
And I gave the girl a little kiss, like this
She starts swingin' with the boys in the school
With her feet flyin' up in the air
Singing hey diddle diddle with a kitty in the middle
I was swingin' like I didn't care
So I took a big chance at the high school dance
With a miss who was ready to play
Wasn't me she was foolin' 'cause she knew what she was doin'
When she told me how to walk this way
She told me to
Walk this way!
Talk this way!
Walk this way!
Talk this way!
She told me to
Walk this way!
Talk this way!
Walk this way!
Talk this way!
Well just gimme some head!
