Crazy
Aerosmith Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You know you drive me up the wall
The way you make good for all the nasty tricks you pull
Seems like we're makin' up more than we're makin' love
And it always seems you got somethin' on your mind other than me
Girl, you got to change your crazy ways
You hear me?
And that you're headin' out to Hollywood
Girl, you been givin' me that line so many times
It kinda gets like feelin' bad looks good, yeah
That kinda lovin' turns a man to a slave
That kinda lovin' sends a man right to his grave
I go crazy, crazy, baby, I go crazy
You turn it on then you're gone
Yeah, you drive me crazy, crazy, crazy for you baby
What can I do, honey? I feel like the color blue
You're packin' up your stuff
And talkin' like it's tough
And tryin' to tell me that it's time to go, yeah
But I know you ain't wearin' nothin' underneath that over coat
And it's all a show, yeah
That kinda lovin' makes me wanna pull down the shade, yeah
That kinda lovin', yeah, now I'm never, never, never, never gonna be the same
I go crazy, crazy, baby, I go crazy
You turn it on then you're gone
Yeah, you drive me crazy, crazy, crazy for you baby
What can I do, honey? I feel like the color blue
I'm losin' my mind girl, 'cause I'm goin' cra-
I need your love, honey, yeah
I need your love
Crazy, crazy, crazy for you baby
I'm losin' my mind girl, 'cause I'm goin' crazy
Crazy, crazy, crazy for you baby
You turn it on then you're gone
Yeah, you drive me
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh ooh ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh ooh ooh
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
The lyrics to Aerosmith's song Crazy are about the tumultuous relationship between two people. The song seems to be addressing a woman who is erratic and unpredictable in her behavior towards the singer. He is expressing his frustration with her, saying she drives him up the wall with the way she makes up for the nasty tricks she pulls. It seems like they are making up more than they are making love, and she always has something else on her mind besides him. He implores her to change her crazy ways.
The song goes on to describe how the woman is leaving on a seven thirty train, heading out to Hollywood, but the singer has heard this so many times before that it feels like feeling bad looks good. He feels like this kind of love turns a man into a slave and sends him to his grave. He goes crazy for her, but when she turns it on, she's gone. He doesn't know what to do - he feels like the color blue.
Despite the lyrics' frustration with this woman's behavior, the song still maintains an element of desire for her. The singer knows that she's just putting on a show when she packs up her stuff and tries to tell him it's time to go. He knows there's nothing underneath that overcoat, and he finds this alluring. Ultimately, he gives in to his desire for her, saying he needs her love and that he's going crazy for her.

@@YouKayTen And that is just not true in that case. That job was done by the song and by radio already. Everybody knew the tune(similar to 'The Scorpions' Wind of Change') already and THEN the visualization(of the band and Silverstone for the most part) due to the videos happened.
Exactly in that order.
Aerosmith were heavy duty in Rock already, in fact lots of people say that they had peaked already.
What's true is that most of the 'MTV generation' got to know the band by the videos, but even most of those knew the songs already, better: they knew the tune without knowing what the title and the band name were.
The mission to burn those into that generations' heads was accomplished by the videos.
But that was in those days 'just' the MTV generation.
MTV was still rising and NOT all around.
MTV peaked a few years later.
It's as if everybody knew 'Thriller' and MJ would've decided to aggressively 'overpush' the popularity of the song by producing the video one year later.
But in fact 'Thriller' would've never been 'the same' without the video(which resulted in the very first music home video cassette including the making of).
