Drop Dead Gorgeous
Aerosmith Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Totally outta control...(control) (control)... she owns me
I didn't know that she'd know...(she'd know) (she'd know)... she stoned me
I think I got it bad and I can't let it go
I thought I knew me much better
Autumn and cashmere all orange and green
She's naturally drop dead gorgeous
Creme' de gardenia and black Vaseline
She's naturally drop dead gorgeous
It's so not fair...completely inside my head
Imagine pretending she's the book that I've read
With a beautiful ending
It really drives me mad I can't leave her alone
'Cuz I won't let me forget her
Rose colored glasses you know what that sez
She's naturally drop dead gorgeous
Her sweet molass' is all mine pasque frez
She's naturally drop dead gorgeous
(Yeeaaahh)...yeah
Totally out of control she owns me
Sweet almond eyes just to see and be seen
She's naturally drop dead gorgeous
She's tasting like cherries sweet love's grenadine
She's naturally drop dead gorgeous
Makes love like a rabbit to my velveteen
She's naturally drop dead gorgeous

A ten with a smile like a young Norma Jean
She's naturally drop dead gorgeous...gorgeous

Overall Meaning

The song "Drop Dead Gorgeous" by Aerosmith is a love song that talks about being completely enamoured by a woman who is naturally beautiful. The lyrics express the singer's infatuation and obsession with this beautiful woman who seems to have taken control over his life. The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "naturally drop dead gorgeous" several times, as if to emphasize the idea of this woman being exceptionally beautiful without any artificial enhancements.

The lyrics in the verses paint a vivid picture of this beautiful woman with eyes as sweet as almonds, who is dressed in autumnal colors of cashmere, orange, and green. The singer describes her as being "stoned" and having "rose-colored glasses", possibly suggesting that she is carefree and happy-go-lucky, which is an attractive quality. The use of creme' de gardenia and black Vaseline imply that she has a unique and eclectic style. Additionally, the reference to sweet molasses and cherries could signify that her allure is not just due to her physical appearance, but also her alluring personality.

The lyrics suggest that the singer is eternally smitten with this woman and is unable to get her out of his head. He imagines that pretending she's the book that he has read, with the most beautiful ending. The song hints at his longing to be with her and not being able to forget her, which is driving him mad.

Overall, "Drop Dead Gorgeous" is a love song that expresses the singer's obsession with a stunningly beautiful woman, whose natural beauty is irresistible. The lyrics provide a glimpse into the singer's infatuation, which is almost bordering on an unhealthy obsession.

Underrated album track

What makes you believe it's underrated? Did you travel the globe taking a survey from every citizen of the world? Please explain.

@Toyota Kawasaki What makes you spend your time looking for arguments with strangers on YouTube over absolutely nothing?

Definitely underrated. Prior to this year, I haven’t listened to this album since roughly 2005, and I forgot how good it is. Definitely a change in direction for Aerosmith at the time, and it’s a bit over produced, but that doesn’t alter the fact that the music is good. This track, Outta your head, and Avant Garden are my favorites.
