In addition to being one of the songs that helped break Aerosmith into the mainstream in the 1970s, it also helped resurrect their career and revolutionized rock and roll and hip hop music when it was re-made in 1986 with rappers Run-D.M.C. on their album Raising Hell. It became an international hit and won both groups a Soul Train Music Award for Best Rap - Single in 1987.
The song was covered by UK girl groups Sugababes and Girls Aloud as the official Comic Relief single in 2007.

'Till I talked to my daddy he say
He said, "You ain't seen nothing
'Till you're down on a muffin
Then you're sure to be a-changin' your ways"
I met a cheerleader, was a real young bleeder
All the times I can reminisce
With her sister and her cousin
Only started with a little kiss, like this
See-saw swingin' with the boys in the school
With your feet flyin' up in the air
Singin' "Hey diddle-diddle with the kitty in the middle
Of the swing" like I didn't care
So I took a big chance at the high school dance
With a missy who was ready to play
Wasn't me she was foolin'
'Cause she knew what she was doin'
And I know love is here to stay
When she told me to
Walk this way, walk this way
Walk this way, walk this way
Walk this way, walk this way
Walk this way, walk this way
Ah, just give me a kiss
School girl sweetie with the classy kinda sassy
Little skirt's climbin' way up her knees
There was three young ladies in the school gym locker
When I noticed they was lookin' at me
I was a high school loser
Never made it with a lady
Till the boys told me something I missed
Then my next door neighbor
With a daughter had a favor
So I gave her just a little kiss, like this
See-saw swingin' with the boys in the school
With your feet flyin' up in the air
Singin' "Hey diddle-diddle with the kitty in the middle
Of the swing" like I didn't care
So I took a big chance at the high school dance
With a missy who was ready to play
Wasn't me she was foolin'
'Cause she knew what she was doin'
When she told me how to walk this way
She told me to
"Walk this way, walk this way
Walk this way, walk this way
Walk this way, walk this way
Walk this way, walk this way"
Just give me a kiss
The lyrics to Aerosmith's song "Walk This Way" are about a young man who is attempting to navigate his way through the awkwardness of growing up and discovering sexual desire. The song's opening lines, "Backstroke lover always hidin' 'neath the cover/'Till I talked to my daddy he say/He said, 'You ain't seen nothing/Till you're down on a muffin/Then you're sure to be a-changin' your ways'" suggest that the young man has been keeping his desires hidden and repressed. However, after he talks to his father, he begins to open up and change his ways.
The song goes on to describe various encounters with girls, including a cheerleader and a school girl. These encounters are both innocent and sexual, as the young man begins to discover his desires and his ability to express them. The chorus of the song, "Walk this way, walk this way/Walk this way, walk this way/Just give me a kiss" suggests a desire for physical intimacy and connection.
Overall, "Walk This Way" is a coming-of-age song that explores the complexities of love, desire, and growing up. The lyrics depict a young man who is trying to navigate his way through a confusing and exciting time in his life, and who ultimately discovers the power of love and connection.

My parents weren't into the music we played in the basement (especially the volume, I suppose), but they mostly either ignored it or just went elsewhere because we had a project going that they weren't going to interfere with.
The very first such noise-in-the-community threat was in 1973, when the guy across the street (Peter Carter, are you OUT THERE and still ALIVE for me to sneer at?) called the police (a basement is a shitty place to practice and rehearse on a warm and sunny summer day) because we were practicing in the back yard instead.... also way over 40 years ago.
So, are we a club that should welcome members to be absolved and "truly saved in the name of all that loud musicians should consider holy"?
Or is even that too sacrilegious for most of... ummm... all that? Come to think of it, "all that" is exactly what's feared (thus hated) by...
... well, YOU decide who hates all that. That's not my call to make for you or only anyone else: only for me.
