My parents weren't into the music we played in the basement (especially the volume, I suppose), but they mostly either ignored it or just went elsewhere because we had a project going that they weren't going to interfere with.

The very first such noise-in-the-community threat was in 1973, when the guy across the street (Peter Carter, are you OUT THERE and still ALIVE for me to sneer at?) called the police (a basement is a shitty place to practice and rehearse on a warm and sunny summer day) because we were practicing in the back yard instead.... also way over 40 years ago.

So, are we a club that should welcome members to be absolved and "truly saved in the name of all that loud musicians should consider holy"?

Or is even that too sacrilegious for most of... ummm... all that? Come to think of it, "all that" is exactly what's feared (thus hated) by...

My mom passed in 09’ l miss her calling this Song “Orange Display” and asking me if I was listening to my “Steel Metal” after correcting her a few times I realize that she was just being the silly fun teasing mom that she sometimes was. One night I got into my bed and my pillow case had a few unpeeled oranges hidden inside. I knew exactly who did it! I hid a few (unopened) Campbell soup cans between her mattress and box springs. I gots 120W each side to use here and speakers to handle it... but if I used even 12% of that, my landlord would call the police.

Once or twice each summer, I run cables, drag the speakers out to the yard, and let 'er rip for a dinner party.

Neighbours join and never complain, but SOMEONE anonymously makes sure my landlord knows that they hate loud and happy music... even early on a Wednesday afternoon.

+Les brown .. You oughta know that I was 17 years old and had lived almost totally on the road and on the street for three years when "Rumors" was released.

I love that album, and its beautifully written and produced pop music (which isn't fucking disco) actually mattered to me, and seemed to resonate with "the parents".

All the same... I had "secret weapons" too. What's funny is that those weapons were just the "seriously naughty" things THEIR parents danced to at live performances before they were born, perhaps WHILE they were conceived themselves. One never knows. :-)

I went to high school in the late 2010s, and we rocked this shit. Dad's music was way cooler , and I can remember me and my friends playing Aerosmith, Van Halen , journey , led zeppelin. It was just so much cooler than lil Uzi or riko reckless .
