I just love the way McCoy and Elvin build the tension up to the point where you can barely stand it, and then Trane's solo entrance is the most moving thing I have ever heard in recorded music.

Ras JJ Mitchell

Yes, that is exactly what I have always thought.
A perfect take!
I have heard many other versions of the same band playing this live, but this is the ONE! The only one that captures the excitement of that build up to the solo.
Since I first heard as a teenager, it is my favorite track of all time!

Peter Manuel

an incredible moment; Elvin playing a cacophonous riot of cymbals and then the bass drum comes galloping furiously through the fog to lead Trane in

camthesaxman

Trane's solo entrance is the most out of tune thing I have ever heard in recorded music. It's really grating to listen to.

Yuggoth Records

It’s unreal!!! Totally agree with you, it floors me every time!!🥺

Yuggoth Records

@camthesaxmanif that’s all you’re hearing you’re lost man! Haha

RIP, Mr. Tyner. The interplay here between Tyner, Jones, and Garrison is some of the finest rhythm section work of all time.

One can only imagine what this quartet is now doing in heaven. The angels are probably dancing in the heavenly aisles.

Breadboy

Agreed.

Ras JJ Mitchell

Yes, of all time!
