The band released their first album issued self-titled debut in autumn 1989, which included the hits, "Sayanora", "Heat of the Moment", "Can't Stop" and the quiet storm staple, "Ready or Not". After promoting the album and seeing it go to platinum, they scored a hit with the Motown-influenced "Nights Like This" on the 1991 soundtrack to The Five Heartbeats. The trio returned with 1992's Takin' My Time, which included the hit cover of The Originals' "Baby I'm For Real". The trio released their last album, with Reflections, in 1995, which included the hit, "'Til You Do Me Right". After Mitchell split from After 7 in 1997, the Edmonds brothers continued performing, releasing the cover of Hall & Oates' "Sara Smile" before silently disbanding that year.
The brothers continue to perform in venues for reunions. Both Kevon and Melvin Edmonds appear with Babyface in the film Soul Food, as members of the R&B group Milestone and performing the song "I Care About You". In 1999, Kevon Edmonds released a solo LP, which included the single "24/7." In 2006 they appeared on the New Jack Reunion Tour.

Girlie I can't resist your luscious lips caressing my body
How do you keep not from fallin
Fallin in love, with a girl that can do you
The way you like to be done
You blow my mind with the things you do to me girlie I cant resist your
Takin my time with you girl
Never know when we'll do this again
Takin my time with you girl,
Touchin your love stokin you from within (hook)
I hear your voice callin
(baby please pick up the phone)
But I don't wanna answer
I got too many women
So I'm tellin you not to fall in love with me
Repeat hook 3x
The time is right for you to be
Close to me
Indefinately
They say good things come to those
Who wait I need to hold you in my arms
The lyrics to After 7's song Takin' My Time describe the irresistible nature of a woman and the effect she has on the singer. The song focuses on the physical aspect of the relationship, with the singer describing how the woman's luscious lips caress his body, and how they are taking their time exploring each other's bodies. While the singer is clearly drawn to the woman and finds her hard to resist, he is also mindful of the consequences of falling in love with her. He tells her not to fall in love with him because he has too many other women in his life.
Despite this warning, the singer clearly enjoys being with the woman and wants to take his time with her. He emphasizes this in the chorus, stating that he never knows when they'll do this again, and wants to touch her love and stoke her from within. However, the chorus also has an element of apprehension, with the idea that they are living in the moment, but the future is uncertain.
Overall, the song presents a complex picture of a relationship that is both passionate and uncertain. While the singer is clearly attracted to the woman, he is also wary of getting too involved, and wants to savor their time together, for fear that it may not last.

@keystonestatewarrior3358; Hey there, yes it's true but you gotta put in the work to become successful.....After 7 kept acting up, being late, not showing up, I think Melvin was getting high, he later left the group and started driving Trucks.... Babyface Edmonds (his brother) had songs for them.... Remember "My my my my" by Johnny Gill, he had that song for After 7 and they wouldn't show up to Record it and in walked Johnny Gill and he gave the song to Johnny and the rest is history.....Mint Condition, is underrated as well but Stokely looked like he wanted to leave and so he did....He should've stayed with the Band because his music is not making it to me.....

Yeah, I watched a doc. about After 7 and Melvin on here actually. But every group has their growing pains and issues though man, and alot of it has do with the money and label their signed too also and not necessarily a specific member of said group acting up. Regardless, that doesn't take away from their talents. Look at the Temptations with what they endured and this was way back then. To me, when artists go through adversity like that but still come out shining it shows the hustle. After 7 has a legacy because they put in the work. I still feel both groups didn't get their just due though.
