The foundations
Of the world
Are being broken
Broken, broken

The foundations
Of the world
Are being broken
Broken, broken, broken, broken, broken

(The foundations)
Of the world
(Are being broken)
(Broken)
Bro–

This old house
This old house
This old
Amazing
Oh it just
Amazing
Oh it just

This old house is all I have, is all I have

This old house is all I have, is all I have
This old house is all I have, is all I have

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Against All Logic's song "This Old House Is All I Have" are a commentary on the instability and fragility of the world around us. The repeated phrase of "the foundations of the world are being broken" indicates that the singer believes that the very basis of our society is being destroyed. This can be interpreted in a variety of ways - it could be a comment on political upheaval or social unrest, or it could simply be a reflection of the uncertainty and anxiety that many people feel in the modern age.

The repetition of the phrase "broken, broken" further emphasizes the sense of chaos and disorder that the singer is experiencing. The use of the word "bro-" at the end of the second repetition of the phrase suggests that the singer is about to say something else, but is cut off by the next verse. This could indicate a feeling of helplessness or frustration at the situation that they find themselves in.

@raymobs

am i the only one who thought that the distortion sounds like blasts... bombs/airstrikes blasting houses in a war. and hence "this old house is all i have"

@fabioescudero6204

Ur not the only one

@thelastaesthete

Wow... That's sooooo deep.... Distorted bass sounds like bombs... It's totally not because the song sampled vocals with those lyrics 😂

@iamsickinthehead

I just realized how genius the title for this song is.

@Ac-dk9ki

Why?

@pepesanchez977

@@Ac-dk9ki it's made with samples of old house music

@drgs6252

@@pepesanchez977 No its not. Thats not house

@daftyfunky

@@drgs6252 I'm guessing it's House music for Nicolas Jaar? Maybe he is saying the samples that appear through this album are what inspired him to make House music as we commonly know it. So it might not be House music by definition but for him its "old House".

@pepesanchez977

@@fridaymorning139 hey, you are probably right :)
Although the answer to the original question is similar I guess, he is making house with the samples he has of older music and then it makes for an interesting title. At the end, a lot of house is made by sampling, old or new music, whichever.
