Formed by guitarist and principal songwriter Jimmy Allen – an original member of the band Puddle of Mudd – Against All Will boast ripe, radio-friendly rock songs replete with fat hooks, huge choruses, and melodies that linger long after the music has stopped.
Powered by the vocals of frontman Jeff Current and a heavy-hitting rhythm section of former Soulfly bassist Cello Dias and Dead Kennedys drummer Steve Wilson, Against All Will’s seven-track debut A Rhyme & Reason is a warm wash of sweet tone and salty vibrato, with lyrics that hit just as hard as the songs. Take “The Drug I Need,” a testimonial to that relationship that we all knew we shouldn’t stay in, but still don’t want to leave: We all know you can’t truly hate something you’ve never loved… All I have is my hate now, and you want to take that, too… I hate the way you make me feel today, but you’re the drug I need.
The band feel as fresh as they sound, their energy, chemistry and passion combining in a mesmerizing musical whirlwind. While most Los Angeles outfits are filled via open auditions or by hired guns, Against All Will was filled through referrals and
recommendations - chemistry was critical, and the personalities needed to fit just as securely as the players.
Since finalizing their lineup in October 2009, they have already accomplished more than most outfits hope to achieve in a lifetime. Their self-released debut was produced by Tim Harkins [Korn, Alice in Chains, Queens of the Stone Age], they are in daily rotation on XM/Sirius satellite radio, and they’ve been invited to play radio festivals from coast-to-coast.
Against All Will didn’t form because of the bands they were in, they formed to create the band they always wanted to be in – and the proof is in the music.
Against All Will is a rock band from Los Angeles, California. According to the The Drug I Need Songfacts, it comprises former Puddle of Mudd co-founder and guitarist Jimmy Allen, vocalist Jeff Current (formerly with 7 Story Drop), one time Soulfly bass player Cello Dias and drummer Steve Wilson.

Against All Will Lyrics

Somethings wrong with me
Turn but don't leave
You want but you don't need
Watch but don't blink
Upset but don't think
The sand keeps falling quick
No matter how I turn that glass around
Feels like I'm being swept away
Somethings wrong inside my head today
Hey hey hey
Wonder if you feel
The same way that I feel
You pretend your all fine
We are all running around blind
Cut but don't bleed
Scarred but not deep
So cold so hold me closer
Can't stop from shaking
There's too much water under the bridge
Feels like I'm being swept away
Somethings wrong inside my head today
Hey hey hey
Its pulling me down
Can you lend me your hand
I'm slipping away
There's too much water under the bridge
There's too much water under the bridge
Feels like I'm being swept away
There's too much water under the bridge
Feels like I'm being swept away
Somethings wrong inside my head today
Hey hey hey
There's too much water under the bridge
Feels like I'm being swept away
Somethings wrong inside my head today
Hey hey hey
There's too much water
Feels like I'm being swept away
The lyrics of Against All Will's song "Swept Away" talk about an individual going through a challenging time, feeling lost, and disconnected from themselves and others. The song expresses how the person feels that something is wrong with them, but they can't figure out what it is, and despite having people around them, they still feel alone. The lyrics suggest that the person may be struggling with inner turmoil, which is making them feel like they are being swept away like water under a bridge. The song talks about the person's vulnerability and their need for support, reaching out for help, and finding comfort in it.
The opening lines of the song set the tone for the rest of the lyrics, exhibiting a sense of confusion and isolation. The lyrics use juxtaposition, saying you look but don't see, suggesting that the people around them aren't aware of their internal struggles. The line, "Scarred but not deep," talks about the emotional scarring the person may have but how it may not be profound enough to see outwardly. They also mention the sand going fast, which means that time is swift and uncontrollable. Despite knowing that they are going through a tough time, they feel like they are being swept away and can't prevent it.
In conclusion, "Swept Away" delivers an intense and genuine portrayal of an individual's inner struggle through its striking lyrics. The song talks about loneliness, vulnerability, and one's need for support, but it also highlights the strength a person can find in reaching out for help.
